Has anyone seen the new Ratings,or know how to find what they are?
I don't believe the new ratings have come out. Last year they came out in June. They should have posted well before the Western Nationals.
I guess no moves this year. That's cap a few teams need to move up.
check the ratings you will see some teams have a new rating in july
Not in July 2016, at least none in 65 division.
High Desert Roadrunners july 2016
Sorry, don't know how I missed that one, plus can't believe they were re-rated. That is a really good team and fun to play. CenTex will miss playing them in Denver.
I remember reading a post from SSUSA back in June that the next new ratings would be out some time in early July after some early July tournaments were over ... I'm guessing that didn't happen.
Can we here from SSUSA staff?
Browsing the 55's and 60's, there are quite a few new ratings done in June and July of 2016.
firestick52 ... Ratings are supposed to take place in June and December, according to SSUSA's own guidelines ... They have certainly seen your post and have chosen to ignore it ... Some new ratings are showing up in dribs and drabs in the Ratings of the website.
Dbax - if you sort the list by the date, you will see ratings from every month of the year. We have them in the 50's as well. The ones from June/July may not be due to the review process? You'll notice many changes on July 15, 2015 and December 16, 2015. Those would appear to be from the review process last year.
The SSUSA staff are not just ignoring, they are avoiding posting the rating list.
Why would SSUSA staff avoid posting the list, they always posted it in the past.
Makes you think that maybe no changes this year. Which is bull&$@$. Several teams need to be moved up and everyone knows that.
Both our Hawaii teams got newly rated on June 21, 2016. What are U guys talking about no new ratings? It appeared the Office rerated teams in June. Aloha, Fabe
In prior years the new ratings would come out in June, after the Rock 'N Reno, Nor Cal and So Cal Championships. Last year we won the Nor Cal and were immediately bumped up. I hope SSUSA does the same this year with the winners of the above tournaments.
Ratings Watch 07/27 ... Still no word ... ???
Dave: Why not post a comment so we can put this issue to bed. Thanks
I'm writing a tournament scheduling package a day right now (Thursday: Windy City / Friday: 10,000 Lakes / Saturday: ISA Senior Worlds / Sunday: Western's #1 / Monday: Eastern's #1 / Tuesday: Western's #2 / and Eastern's #2 in progress today) ... I'm not involved in the rating process, and trying to get out as scheduled to Raleigh on Saturday, so I'm not up to speed on its status ... Email to info@ or george@ is your best avenue of approach ...
Thanks for all your hard work Dave...much appreciated.
Ratings Watch 07/28 ... Nothing!? (yet)
As Fabe noted earlier, there are several new ratings from June and July 2016 in the various age groups. What exactly are you looking for?
#19, go to ratings, and look up whatever team your concerned about. Sheesh!
On 7/26, I was told by SSUSA that the new ratings have not yet been posted and would be after they contacted the managers of the teams that have been re-rated. I hope the new ratings come out before the Western Nationals.
SSUSA Guidelines and Procedures:
Team Ratings and appeals are reviewed ONLY two (2) times per year: December and June. SSUSA reserves the right to change a team at any time if it becomes clear the team is too strong or too weak for its current division.
December's information was posted on December 16, 2015 ... One would think that June's information would be posted in June 2016, or perhaps early July ... I don't think that the current ratings list has been updated to reflect the expected June re-ratings ... Sheesh!
Mr. Nick ... Good information ... Thank you for your post.
Dbax and Jimmy G ... Finally, this afternoon there are actual signs that June's rating process might be complete ... Thanks for your meaningless posts.
As you see, the tournaments go on and no rating post. There's nothing to talk about.
Just looked at the new rankings for 50 majors and all I can this is unbelievable. I was on the team that won the Rock N Reno tournament for AAA in 2015. We were immediately bumped to Majors division. So for the remainder of the 2015 and first part of 2016 year we have held our own against the lower end of teams in the Majors bracket. My issue is there seems to be one team in particular that in June of 2015 were moved to 50 Major +. They appealed in 2015 and were re-rated to 50 Major. This team recruited one maybe two Major + players to start the 2016 season. They won the Rock N Reno tournament and now the ratings show them as still being a 50 Majors team. I have also learned from reliable sources that the manager for this team just happens to be a SSUSA board member. I'm not saying this made a difference, but all of you out there can make your own decisions on what is going on with SSUSA.
EP1964, I feel your pain. In 2015, our team won the 50 AAA Nor Cal Championship and we were immediately moved up to 50 Majors. At Nor Cal, We lost one of the seeding games and it took the "if" game for us to win the Championship. The team you are referring to in your post won both Reno and Nor Cal Championship this year. In Reno, they beat us by 9 runs. Unfortunately, SSUSA has not posted the game scores for these 2 tournaments. Yes, this is totally unbelievable. Maybe SSUSA can provide an explanation.
Must be nice having that contact SSUSA. You know they are reading this they just don't have class to admit it and do what's right.
Maybe this is the reason they won't post seeding game and bracket game scores. It would make sense.
EP1964, I am guessing you are referring to Nor Cal Warriors. I talked to a few of their players at Reno who fully expected to be bumped to Major Plus because these players admitted they were playing pretty well this year.
We (Sommerville) expected to play them next weekend in Sacramento based on their Reno tournament win, and see that they are still major not major plus. I'm a little surprised based on their own team players saying they were playing well. Major plus needs more teams.
If their manager is scared to play major plus then get a dog.........
There would appear to be a reluctance to move teams - other than the 40's - to a + rating. Unless I misread, in all of 50/55/60/65 there was 1 team re-rated to Major+ at the end of July (in 55).
EP1964...I am the manager of the team you are not mentioning, first of all you might want to do a fact check on your information...especially from your "reliable" sources. I am not a member of the SSUSA board, never have been and I have never been approached regarding any position.
That being said, I believe there are many more things to consider when ranking teams, than just winning the "Rock'n Reno" Tournament.
Benji4...I can "Guarantee" you, nobody on our team is afraid, we have always done exactly what the SSUSA ranking committed has ruled on. If and when we are moved up again, we will take that in stride and come ready to compete with anyone. We may have never beaten you guys, but that doesn't mean we are scared...we have always loved the great battle on the field, when playing Sommervile.
Ok Mr. Nick,
your team in 2015 results:
Reno 10 Teams 50AAA
2-0 Seeding won both games 28-16 and 20-11
4-2 overall lost both games to the same team
2nd overall
Nor Cal Cup 8 teams 50AAA
1-1 Seeding 16-2 w and 16-15 lost
4-2 overall and scored on the average 15.4 runs per game
1st overall
Western Nationals 12 teams 50 MAJOR
1-1 Seeding 14-6 w and 7-6 lost
4-2 overall in your very first Major tournament
2nd overall
Why in the heck shouldn't you not play Major, I can't see SSUSA doing anything wrong.
JMHO
LeeLee50.... No where does it mention he is complaining about playing 50 majors in fact the team is right where it needs to be. try reading all the treads again.
LeeLee50, michael697 is correct, I'm not taking issue to our team being moved up after winning the 2015 Nor Cal Cup. My point is the that the team that won both Reno and Nor Cal Cup in 2016 should also be moved up.
Trying to figure out how the 40 teams that were bumped to major plus, got bumped. One is a first year team that has taken 1st and 3rd in two tournaments. The tourney they won, included (3) 8 inning games, and they lost their second game (?). They followed that up by going 6-3 at their state tourney to finish 3rd. Not sure why the other team was bumped either, as they have great defense but slightly above avareage offense and finished T-5th (?) And T-7th (?) In the two big tourneys this year?
There are other teams that have won two TOC events, and/or consistently finished in top 3 yet they don't get bumped? Is it because they are from Nor Cal? Something doesn'T add up.
I'm not sure what you are talking about being from Nor Cal. Our team is from Nor Cal and in 2013 we were bumped from 55 AAA to Major after a 5th place finish in a 22 team bracket in Reno. The reason given to us was we played great in Reno and deserved the bump. The biggest problem with that is that 2 of the teams that finished ahead of us did not get bumped. We hit 3 home runs in 9 games and for the year averaged 1/3 home run per game. We were able to compete at the AAA level but in the tournaments we played as a Major team we got our butts kicked, mainly because of lack of home run power. We have quit playing SSUSA tournaments. We have appealed 3 times and still remain Major. For the last 2 years we have played only NCSSA tournaments and have enjoyed ourselves. That is not to say that we haven't missed playing other teams from around the country but when you pay large fees and have zero chance of winning we will continue to do what we are doing now.
Mulewhipper I'm just stirring the pot and trying to get more major plus teams. Look forward to playing more local major plus teams, and especially when your team is playing well.
Good luck.
And yes I now know you aren't scared...hahahaha
No worries Benji...I get it.
Got a ratings question. My team is going to the Worlds in Las Vegas this Sept therefore we submitted our roster as a AA rated team at this past June's qualifier. Subsequently, in July, we were rerated to AAA. How does this affect our teams chances to play in the AA classification at the Worlds?
If you are now rated as 'AAA' you will have to play in 'AAA'
SSUSA ... Have the re-ratings been completed? ... Thanks.
It was mentioned above that managers were notified already before the bump up. Has anyone been notified? I would assume that if you a team weren't already bumped or notified that it can't happen until the next ratings update in December. Am I correct in this thinking? Everything I read says ratings are only updated in June and December.
The rating of any one, or more, particular teams can be changed at any time. There are automatic rating periods in December and June. However, when circumstances dictate, a change in rating can occur at any time. When we won our third straight in April of last year, we were automatically bumped to 70 major plus for Reno. Well ahead of the June rating period.
I play with Fabe in Hawaii. My question is that we won the winter worlds this year as a AAA club but were bounced up in June. When we go to the TOC, do we play as AAA champs or our new rating?
Tmac ... SSUSA has been avoiding this thread like the plague, so don't expect an answer from them anytime soon! ... But, you probably play at the level in which you qualified.
Tmac808 ... Teams that earn a Tournament of Champions bid are invited to play at the same rating they had when they earned their bid, regardless of a subsequent change ... The (very rare) exception is in the event a team won bids in two rating levels .. In that case, they will play in the T.O.C. at the higher of the two ... Congrats!
Since SSUSA answered Tmac question why doesnt SSUSA answer the one question everyone's asking about the rating. show respect to the players who pay a lot money for this league and answer the question.
Tmac808's "Q" was about the T.O.C. ... Ratings issues are team-specific and not a public commentary item on our part in a largely anonymous and unregulated environment ... Managers of affected teams are contacted by SSUSA directly and privately ... Current ratings are always available from the RATING pages of this website ...
SSUSA ... I didn't ask about a "ratings issue" ... I simply asked if the June re-ratings were complete ... Last December you sent out a message, deleted only recently, containing a list of teams that were re-rated ... I have yet to see a list for June ... Is it forthcoming, or not?
#19: I simply asked if the June re-ratings were complete • Probably not
#19: I have yet to see a list for June ... Is it forthcoming, or not? • Probably, eventually
Is it possible for teams to be bumped coming off Nationals? Seems like same teams dominating in Major levels (even beating major plus teams by more than the 5 run spot).
My question is regardless of age division if you are a new team arent you automatically classified as a majors team?
New teams begin in AAA, subject to a review of the player histories, if any, for all divisions of play EXCEPT -
• Men's 40-Masters - Major (only three rating levels, no AA division);
• Women's 50+ and more senior (unrated divisions); and
• Men's 85+ - Major (only rating level)
SSUSA ... Thank you for your prompt response.
SSUSA ... An earlier email of yours indicated that the list of June re-ratings would be out following a couple of early July tournaments ... Where can I find the list?
Saw a thread on another ratings discussion board with no response.
How the TD's sit at a desk at the ball parks and enter scores on the board there. They also have laptops there.
Then take a picture and send it off to whomever at SSUSA Headquarters to be documented. I see that there maybe only one person that can enter the scores at SSUSA because they have the only program that can do that. If there is too much on their plate then give the program to others who can enter the scores.
Maybe even the TD's at the ball parks?
*ERRORS OCCUR and since OUR RATINGS go by the scores and other issues then let there be no confusion.
*Yes the managers should have them but when the managers and SSUSA have conflicting scores that were not enter on the sight then conflicting issues occur.
We do pay for this information in our entry fees and registration, right? Thank you!

Mid-year ratings changes
Friday, Aug 12, 2016: We are still working on ratings changes. When complete we will post them here.
How the Rating Process Works
Here is the SSUSA process for reviewing team ratings and appeals two times per year (ONLY in December and June):
• We do an internal review of all teams based on all results of games played in SSUSA. The SSUSA database program flags teams that win or lose by an average of five (or more) runs per game for further review.
• We also independently review all teams that have filed appeals, and look at umpire recommendations on Game Cards for the teams and reports from Tournament Directors.
• After that review is complete, we send a list of recommendations to our 12 key SSUSA Directors for their review and comment. When their comments come back, we may modify the recommendations.
As soon as the decisions are made, the team ratings are changed electronically and managers are sent an email (and/or a letter) confirming the decision.
