Dec. 29, 2022 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player Renewal Online Link? When you login, it will be under Your Softball Information (Your Homepage) where your current registration information is shown. It is my experience that the renewal link only shows if your current registration has expired. |
Aug. 22, 2022 JimmyG | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Who's Out? 8.5(4) • COURTESY RUNNER COMING TO BAT WHILE ON BASE A courtesy runner on base when it is his turn to bat will be declared out. The runner will be removed from the base and a second courtesy runner cannot be substituted. Substitution for the original player will not prevent this out. The courtesy runner called out does not lose his turn at bat. EFFECTS: [1] The out occurs at the base the courtesy runner abandons to take his required turn at bat, unless it is the third out; and [2] The courtesy runner retired for the third out will be the first batter of the team’s next half-inning at bat. |

Nov. 15, 2021 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Turf Shoes for Plantar Fascitis I had it really bad in my right foot a couple years ago. Unbelievably painful. For me, the most important things were wearing an insert in all of my shoes all the time and constantly stretching my toes up towards my knees. When you sleep, your feet automatically relax in the wrong direction so I rigged up a long arm stretch band around my waist like a belt and the other handle around my foot to pull my toes back. This worked wonders. I still consciously stretch my feet when laying down and haven't had an issue since. |

Aug. 11, 2021 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: no respecting to softball players DD, I totally understand. I have followed this board for many years and often enjoy your responses to the anonymous posters. It is the same on other social media forums where many hide behind fake profiles to post the most ridiculous things. Not sure how you maintain your sanity sometimes. Keep up the great work! |
Aug. 11, 2021 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: no respecting to softball players Ollie4, exactly my first thought after reading it. I have thought for a long time that you should be required to have your info in your profile. Jim Golianis |

July 10, 2021 JimmyG | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: CR runner 8.5(2) • USING A RUNNER ON BASE A runner who is replaced with a courtesy runner may not be used as a courtesy runner for the remainder of the inning. |
June 4, 2021 JimmyG | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Ruling So if they anticipated a potential tie and substituted BJ for Stick in the bottom of the 7th because BJ is way faster than Stick then they have just circumvented the purpose of the rule. I do not know the correct answer but I would think that the intent of the rule would be that Stick has to run. The rule states "last batter", not 'last batter position". |
Nov. 1, 2020 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Finger Protection I agree with Dbax. I have used foam pipe insulation before and it works well due to the cushioning and flexibility. |
June 13, 2020 JimmyG | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: ISA Senior Worlds Columbus Indiana 17Black The late Jerry Jackson's wife, Amy, is the tournament director for this. I would suggest contacting her with your questions. I don't recall seeing her on this message board in the past. Her contact info is: Amy Jackson, 309-267-8324, ajackson@dist102.org Hope to see you there. We are also 55AAA. Jim Golianis, Team Illinois |
May 23, 2020 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Loss of a great softball director The softball world has suffered a great loss. SSUSA and ISA director Jerry Jackson passed away yesterday at the age of 73. Jerry will be missed tremendously. My deepest sympathy to Jerry's wife, Amy, and family. http://www.preston-hanley.com/obits/details.cfm?pageID=8&obitID=8125 |
May 20, 2020 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Please, a story from anyone! Anything but Corona, Corona, Corona! I was a hardcore baseball player who swore that I would never play slow pitch softball. At age 35 I changed my mind. I joined a 35+ team with some friends who had been playing for years. We went to a tourney near Minneapolis and I started at 3B. I had my tiny Ozzie Smith baseball glove and was wearing baggy reversible basketball shorts. First batter in first game hits a piss rocket one hopper at me. Ball hits my glove and disappears. I am hopping around looking for the ball and can't find it anywhere. Everyone thinks it is in my glove but it isn't. Our coach, who is playing right center is screaming "THROW THE FU%*ING BALL"!! Then the ball falls out of the leg of my shorts which had wrapped around the ball Everyone starting laughing their asses off. We proceeded to run rule that team. Welcome to slow pitch softball. LOL! |
March 21, 2020 JimmyG | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Corona Virus (COVID-19) • Part II Capt Kirk, please recheck your facts and don't spread false information about such a serious subject. I work for a health department and I will tell you that Wood_1966 is exactly right in his above comment. The virus that is currently going around is not transmitted by animals. It is human to human. The false rumor that it can be transmitted by animals is unfortunately causing animal shelters to be overloaded by people panicking and trying to get rid of their pets. |
