| May 16, 2024 nickname36 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Am i wrong to think this way "EXACTLY" If rolling a bat is illegal, then what is hitting a wooden telephone pole about 1/2 to 3/4 swing speed about 150 to 200 times with a thin towel wrapped around the bat and turning the bat as you go, a lot of parks 20/30 years ago had wooden telephone light poles and you would see guy smacking the wooden telephone poles for ten minutes or so and no park director of umpire said anything about the practice.. What about hitting a bat with a rounded rubber mallet with a towel wrapped around the bat hitting it 150 to 200 times spinning it after each hit. What does the rule book say about these two ways of breaking in a bat. |

If I was umpiring I'd call the batters box the it way is was from day one and if your a pitcher your probably gonna get blown up once or twice. I was blown up a few times when I pitched(13 yrs) that's why I don't pitch any more, there are 9 other positions I can play. |

Why did you have change the batters box it worked just fine for a lot of decades. Then some people wanna change the commute line what's wrong with it the way it is? The only change I agree with is the orange bag at first base. We didn't really need it until guys didn't know how to run up the line and touch 1st base, there was always guys that wanted to step on your ankle when your foot was clearly on the inside of the base and they had all of the base to touch. |

I know 4 70's plus players that use shaved just for the very reason I mentioned, they definitely don't wanna play shuffle board with there wives. |

They been shaving bats or altering them from day 1 when aluminum bats came out. I've learned to deal with it and move on. |
| Dec. 24, 2023 nickname36 | Topic: Bats Discussion: New rule on shaved bats "EXACTLY" I feel you just need to suspend a player for the 1st offense and the next time ban him for calendar year from the time of the infraction just like pro sports and test his bat or bats at every tourney after he's allowed back, another failed test he's gone no excuses, gone for life he will never see the field again. When has a whole professional sports team been banned from playing for one guy testing positive for PEDs? The guy is suspended for X amount of time for the first offense and X amount of time for the second positive test for PEDs and has to submit to random drug testing. A pro player on roids is the ABOUT samething as a wimpy, 5foot nothing guy using a shaved bat hitting 350/400' bombs, when 5 years earlier he could barely hit 275plus. I'd be willing to bet more then half the players on a pro sports teams know what teammate or teammates are using PED's but play dumb and turn there head the other way they don't wanna upset the apple cart and be labeled a rat, same in softball. No matter what happens there will be people who think it should be one way and others think it should be their way. |

Before you know it there will just be a line a few feet out that's parallel to the front of the plate where your foot can't cross and your other foot can be any where behind you. |

I pitched for approx 13 years from 30 years old to approx 42/43 years old and in the B division never was hit. I quit pitching in the middle of the 1st game of a tourney in cali when a laser was hit right at my crouch and as it went between my legs it nicked the bottom of my baggy shorts and after the inning was over I have not pitched another inning to this day, IT NOT WORTH IT, It scared the crap out of me what would of happened if it was 3 inches higher? The only difference between a rolled ball and a bat with 50 to 100 hits on is not a thing there both broken in just rolling gets the job done quicker and no evidence if the bat is compression tested. |

It would make the game more of a team game. You would have to hit according to the situation at the time, how many outs and the score and inning, etc etc, it would put the skill of the players back in the game not just a couple of walks and then a HR, couple more walks and another HR. "DEFINITELY NO PITCHERS SCREENS TO FIX THE PROBLEM" |

Small rubber spikes all over the bottoms, had a pair for two years, very very comfortable. Put them on at home for league take them off when I get home plus tournaments, Still have them. |
