The 1st Annual SoCal Cup will take place in Menifee-Hemet, home to last years California State Championships. Winners of the SoCal Cup will face winners of the NorCal cup (held in Sacramento in June) in a one-game winner-take-all contest held during the Western Nationals in Sacramento/Placer County in August. Here is what players had to say:
“We had planned to play a great tournament in San Clemente last year in July. When we found out it conflicted with the Cal Cup in Hemet we decided to cancel San Clemente. We always said if they bring it ‘down south’ we will definitely support it. Thanks for coming down and we hope to see it here more in the future.”
– Ernie Stucki, OC - Mustangs (CA), Men’s 60 AAA
“There are many casinos nearby. The fields are very good. There were plenty of fields and grass areas for batting practice. It is a good tournament overall that just needs more teams, so come on out and play in 2015!”
– Richard (Red) Simmons, Top Gun 75’s (CA), Men’s 75 Major
“We really enjoyed the California State Championships held in Hemet. We like the idea of moving each year between the North and South. The fields are always in great shape. There is great competition at this quality tournament.”
– John Murillo, Southern California Crush (CA), Men’s 70 AAA
