For the past year or so I've been swinging a Freak Plus for the majority of my bp swings, thinking I would save my senior bats for games. I have used my F+ for some games in cooler weather and did use it in Jacksonville a couple of years ago in the Classic Spring Training homerun derby where the temps were in the low 40's. It performs well with great pop. The only drawback is that the sweetspot is somewhat smaller.
When I bought the F+ I tried to find a bat with the same swing weight as my senior bat so the switch to my senior bat would be easier.
This week I bought a Miken Psycho SuperMax that was on sale on Softballfans.com. I went with a 29oz but when it arrived yesterday I found that it weighed 30oz.
The swing weight is 19.5 where the sw of the F+ is 18.4. I guess I should have ordered a 28. Oh well, I'll just have to make do.
What prompted this post was an older one discussing someone that has broken 4 or 5 senior bats in one year. Maybe he should try using a more durable bat in bp, saving the senior bat for only very few bp swings and game swings.

I swing a Original Freak and a Long Haul for league and BP. The only time I use my Senior bats is during tournament games. It certainly makes my senior bats last a lot longer.

Hey Bruce-I was one of those with 7 bats in 2 years. The only time I use my U2's in practice is to break them in. You are exactly right on the Freak Pluses. We have to use them in league. Just a slightly smaller sweet spot, but I do not see any noticeable differences in distance or velocity off the bat. With apologies to everyone on the board, I have to agree with Gary19 on this one. When you have to baby and sleep with a bat and check it every time you hit the ball hard, 'Houston, we have a problem!'

Plus, keep in mind guys, a 'slightly smaller sweet spot' than a U2 is still a long sweet spot.

That has been my point all along. Today's Utrip bats are plenty lively enough for anyone. And if they aren't, there is always checkers.

Bruce, I play in a utrip senior league in OKC. I swing a BJ Fulk Mayhem which I also take with me for BP in Senior events. I had one last year which lasted me a full year. This one is about 8 months old and is still going strong. The bat has plenty of pop and is not that different from the Worth Toxics (Orange - this year - and green - last year) I swing only in Senior events. I only have one new U2 now since I broke 4 in a year a couple of years ago.

Bruce go to Direct Sports an buy the $100 free shipping
Easton Synergy SCx2. Mine hits hard liners and hits out just as easy. Takes a little time to break in but for you that is about 2 swings. Easton bats last way longer than other bats. Just takes a little time to break in. I have over 1000 of bp with the one I have. All the utrip Eastons are good bats.

Bruce: I have a Miken 585 that I've had for 3+ years; I swing it continually in BP; I need to check the distance, but I believe it is comparable to the U2. Will check & give a feedback; but it is a tank.

I had a 510 that I had since 07', bought 2 NIW off of Ebay & I broke one @ BP (about 55 degrees) trying to give a good representation to the Columbus 55 team that picked me up. Should have used my 585.

Anyone that has a 30 oz Miken 585 FS (stock) LMK.

Lefty, Pete mentioned that DTE Sports had them for $99. I've never been able to hit an Easton.
T50, SF's had 585's untill recently. you may want to call them. $149 if I remember correctly.

I use the green stealth +. This bat has a bigger sweet spot and is very close to the distance of the U2. I have had this bat since it came out and use it year round including cold weather.

I was only able to play 3 tournaments this year and broke 2 U2's.

I also purchased a Miken MV1 for my son and once broke in it hits well.

Bruce, we have a Utrip Vector that a lot of guys tried at our hitting tent in Phoenix. I had not seen one earlier but did hit it a lot all last week and it is a solid bat with excellent performance and cold weather ability. Be well, Ed

Hey Bruce, Ed is so right about the Vector. I used a freak 98 for a while but went to Combat and Reebok USSSA bats since I change from Miken.
I hit BP with both the Combat Virus and the Reebok Vector (last year’s model- blk/blue)for the last 9 months and both are good USSSA bats, But the Vector has more pop than the Virus.JMO
Also my Vector feels like its end loaded.
Sweet spot is about the same. JMO

Bruce, The Supermax bats have a full ounce end load. The Maxload bats have a half ounce which would be more like your Freak Plus. In my opinion you don't want the supermax bats for bp. The Worth Reload bats have a half ounce as well. My 28.5 Titan Reload feels very similar to my 29 EL Combat and thats what I swing in BP.

Sold all 6 of my U2s some with ASA stamp. Now use Freak + & Miken Recoil for leagues & tournaments exclusively. Swing Miken Recoil ASA version for my ASA leagues. No durability issues & since all are well broken in they hit just as well as any of the U2s I sold.

Bruce, I swing the Reebok Melee young kids model from 2010. Anaconda has them on sale for $99. I've had 3 this year, I got 1200 bp swings out of the first one, 1150 out of the second one and I still an swings the third one. For the money that is cheap swings. As far as pop goes, they have as good of pop as any other utrip bat that I have swung. You going to CST this february?

salio2k ordered the 28oz SCx2 dismorning for $65 free shipping. I have one that's broke in and hits close to the ultra bats maybe 10 to 20ft shorter. Just takes a little time to brake in but it's worth it to me. I have over 1000 swings of bp with it. Fields like the end loaded reeboks to be. So I use it for bp for tourneys. Thanks again for the info.

Glad you were able to get one. Can't beat the price. I was always a fan of the original SCX2. I always claimed it to be better than the U2.
