Discussion: What do 12 and 6 foot arcs really look like?

THe tough part is the inconsistency of some officials. I don't really care how high or low it is within reason as long as they call the same pitche illegal on a consistent basis.
I umpired NSA which is 6-10 for many years. I would hold my head level and if the ball disapperaed above the brim of my cap it was illegal. Was it 10 feet? Not sure but it was illegal every time.

Hi Raul,
Check out the Las Vegas Senior Softball Association. They have regular games during the week at Lorenzi Park and it's a good way to hook up with a tournament team.

Discussion: Carson City?? Just Curious

LC7,
The infields were unplayable. There were burms like you would find on a motocross track and the sand on the infield was ankle deep which made running bases and fielding ground balls extremly difficult to say the least. The grounds crew also did not groom the fields in betwenn games and no water was applied at all on any of the three days. This was probably due to water restrictions. Most teams I talked to said they wouldn't play in Carson again.
Dave,
Let's hope this is the case and they have done major work on the fields this year for everyones sake. Having grown up in Carson I woud enjoy playing there is the conditions are improved.

Too bad Carson City Parks and Recreation doesn't feel obligated to make their playing fields safe for play. We played there last year and the fields were without a doubt the worst I have ever played on. Seems there would be some kind of requirement for any complex wanting to host an SSUSA event that the fields be safe for play.

Discussion: Lost Glove

A buddy of mine left his glove in the dugout at Desert Breeze Park during the 65 AAA tournament late afternoon on Monday the 19th. If anybody happened to pick one up give him a call. Mike (702) 427-7724

For sure Billy and if he can't they have 25 guys on the roster and it's a two teamer. I'm sure they will be OK.

Could not agree more Dave. Lifetime ban should be the standard for anyone caught altering a bat.

Thanks for your input Dave. That answers the question but doubt it will stop some from rolling their bats..........

My understanding is rolling IS illegal as when it is rolled t comprises the bat much more that any human would by breaking the bat in by hitting a ball with it. If it would not pass a compression test after rolling, which would make it illegal why would it be OK to roll it?
I personally think it cheating but maybe Dave can chime in and give us the SSUSA take on the issue.

I'm with you Mike. Well worth the cost to play at BLD.

So charge the teams that are playing at Hollywood and Shadow Rock 8.00/Day to ease the burden for those fortunate enough to play at BLD? Now that's funny.
I have an idea, try to win it back in the Casinos.

I 2nd that. Well done Dave. Was really nice to be able to look at the bracket and know exactly what was going on. Tournament was very well run by the SSUSA Staff. It was great not having games played on the baseball field on Saturday and Sunday.

Check out the Nokona site. You can design your glove any way you want. Great product and excellent service. I just bought a new one after having my last Nokona for 25+ years

Discussion: 60 MAJOR DIVISION FIELDS FOR VEGAS WORLDS

Hi Dave,
I see the 60 Division drew the short straw again this year for Spring Worlds and will be playing in Mesquite as was the case last year. As I am sure SSUSA will once again schedule games on the Baseball fields is any consideration being given to putting up some temporary fences on those fields? Not having them really changes the game and not for the better. An outfielder can wear out pretty quick chasing the ball to the fence on those fields, trust me I know.

I went on the NOKONA website and designed my own 14 inch glove and absolutely love it. Just a quality product and made in the USA. My last NOKONA lasted more than 25 years.

This is a terrible idea IMO. Think it’s a knee jerk reaction to Timberworks beating up the 65M guys while getting the extra fielder? Better idea would have been for Timberworks to have to to play by 65M rules any time they play down. Once again, only my opinion.
