The Brickyard tournament is usually the first T of the year for most in the mid west and has been held at Midwest Sports complex in Indy for yrs. This complex has fallen on hard times and as one who plays in Indy, is moving down the list on preferred places to play. That said SSUSA might want to check out Indianapolis Sports Park on the south side of Indy. They have installed turf infields (8 fields) and the facility is top notch(except the parking lot needs work). So much so conference USSSA has scheduled a men's Major tournament there to be held in September. I would like to put this T back on our schedule, but being the weather is always Iffy, playing on less than desirable fields keeps me from it. Not a commercial just a heads up.

Discussion: Need some HELP

Here In Indy we have a group of guys playing indoor softball thru the winter. What we need is a Ball that's not too hot and not too soft, but durable.....we hate hittin some that are like socks and the 44/375's we use in leagues and tournaments are too hot. bases are 60' and it's 190 down the lines and 250' to center field. Any Ideas Fellas ???

The neuropathy in my foot feels like I have a balled up sock in my shoe, but that's about it....the meralgia paraesthetica that keeps my left quad area burning and tingling constantly is more serious...injections haven't helped so I guess its something I'll learn to live with...except for the pain it doesn't affect my game.

This tournament was one of my favorites when It was held in Champagne Illinois...…...most age groups were full....nice fields and well run...teams from MI, Wi, Ohio and Indiana kinda dropped out when it was moved...would consider adding it to our schedule if it was moved backto the "Midwest"...just sayin

JDub sounds like you agree with most of my officiating philosophy, but Nancy knows me and was ribbing me about your post. That's just how I roll. All I'll say is you have a right to your view and that's completely cool with me.. I think the rule should be changed. It's worked for me for a lotta years no need to change now.

The Best Umpires are those that let the PLAYERS determine (by their play) the outcome of a game. Be courteous, but don't be a chatterbox, speak when spoken to and don't comment on either teams play, good or bad. Be confident and decisive. Be thick skinned' but when you've heard enough, give them a warning, and if they persist. Tossem

As an umpire and a player, who got rung up this past weekend on a questionable "high pitch", The best you can do as an umpire is be consistent.....As a batter, if you have 2 strikes on ya, never leave it up to the umpire!!!
My rule of thumb (as an umpire) is "I'd rather listen to 2 pitchers B#@&* at me than 2 whole dugouts. That said if its over ten its illegal.
