Hello all rebok reps,

What's the deal with the new Reboks decals coming off the bats after 5 to 10 swings?
I know & understand that there's no warranty on these bats, but it sure makes the Bats out to be CHEAP! I've already contact the rep I purchase mine from & he was kind enough to send me a replacement then the same thing happen to the replacement...I understand Rebok sold more of these Senior Bats then any other Bat company last year, but this new batch in 2012 are just plain CHEAP....Can one of you guys please shed some light on why this is happening to the current batch of Reboks...I had to put it down after this happen,in fear that they would CRACK after 20 swings!

There are no 2012's out yet, only 2011 bats. Have not seen this personally but I WILL find out an answer to this issue. Ed

I have a question about Reeboks-- I have had 3 senior Reeboks and the first was great, probably the best senior bat I've had and it broke after approx 400 swings. The last 2 have been the worst-- I traded for these and have no idea where they were bought, my question is-- does anyone know for sure if there are fake Reeboks being sold and are they sold on ebay?

saddle: I do not know if there are knockoff bat copies out there. I do know that there are discounted bat sales on Ebay and other internet sites. Only a suggestion, but when purchasing a senior bat, do it with a reputable individual or entity that you know and trust or that others know, trust or have worked with. There seems to be a lot of unknown criteria out there to muddy waters.

The first bat was purchased from a dealer and was very good thats one reason I was wondering about the fake bats.

If you purchased a Melee senior bat and experienced an immediate issue as above, STOP! DO NOT CONTINUE HITTING WITH IT. Box it up, include a letter of explanation with the facts pertinent to the purchase and the issue. Include your return address and phone number. Keep a record and/or receipt of your shipment. You do not need an RA# for a Reebok senior bat.

Send it to:

Surf,

I really appreciate you looking into this...I too was very pleased with the 1st Melee I purchased, which is the reason I purchased another one. I'll be honest this decal thing has put a bitter taste in my month....I'll take your advice and send the current one I have back to Reebok International.... The Rep I purchase this one from is a good guy & a friend of mine, so IMO it's got to be a defect from the production line!

I purchased a Reebok Melee end loaded from Amazon and after the third swing i ran my hand along the barrel and thought i felt a crack... turned out to be a paint chip. I continued taking BP and after about 50 swings 2 huge areas of paint chipping had occured.I e-mailed Ed Andrews and he responded immediately and was very helpful with the return address shown above. this was my 4th senior melee, i had no problems with the others. although Ed was very helpful I decided to keep it and just hit it in BP and games till it breaks... but I am dissappointed in their quality control. that is all

I had a Reebok Melee crack after 2 swings come to find out the decal peeled off in large chunks. I bought it from a rep. who took it back and gave me a new one which got stress cracks but working well (so far). It seems like they didn`t put a clear coat to keep the decal on.

Anyone know what production date codes are having issues? I have a 27EL with a 1A production date. Seems to be OK. About 50 swings on it not yet broken in I think. I just got a new one through Anaconda,a 28EL with a production date of 1D.

Also, I saw some for sale at a tournament last year, brand new, that had no production date code. Guy selling it was a used bat salesman and sets up a table with mostly used bats. He said that was they way they were making them now? I heard there were some knockoffs out there. Would these be them?

LIAIRS,I'm TIRED OF HEARING 400 PLUS SWINGS on these Sorry ass bats. I've had 3 end loads and now a Usssa Vector Crack just last week. 4 Reeboks in 1 year. The Bat has POP, but their not worth the paper I wipe my ass with. The Seniors end loads did not last over 80 swings each. I was the pitcher for
Ron in BP, when the labels and name started peeling off, with just 5 swings on it. So all this 400 swings is a bunch of bull shit. Or there are some weak ass men out there.

The Bat is a piece of shit guys. Really guys, save your money and get a Worth or Combat. JMO

My experiences are that the senior bats are fine if you don't hit over about 300 feet or in cold conditions. Likely most of us know this but to be competitive we keep using the bats knowing if we are big hitters we are going to break these bats. I have given up on these bats with the hope the veteran core bat comes out soon as expected. Seniors who are not big hitters will usually be fine with with the present bats as far as breakage. If you are a big hitter and can afford to keep buying and breaking the bats to be competitive fine. Kind of gives an advantage to wealthier players, maybe, but thats probably part of the senior game too. Which gets to the question, for the cost conscious, how much is the new gsc veteran bat expected to cost?

Kennard:
A couple of thoughts...
1) the paper that you use for wiping must be a large quantity, probably greater than a ream, so it does have some value. :-)
2) You're correct about the Combats... they last 2-3 times longer than the Ultras and have only slightly less pop, a difference that ought not matter to you.
There has been lots of dialogue about the Centenarians, both black and white ones, and I find all of it to be true. I've used Combats for 4 years + and have never felt cheated by them.

Reebok can HUG thees nuts, No Gary, I'm just tired of reading all this shit about this bat. Its has pop,OK. But the LIEs about the 400 plus swings..COME ON MAN! Every time I look up, A Post says That this shity bat has Cracked or something.
I have two bats with well over 600 swings, A Miken Legacy, and a 2004 Miken Freak (ASA stamp). Everything else has cracked.
I will try the Vet. when it comes out.

But please spare me the LIES...............Oh yea I got 500 swings,
What you mean is I'm a ground ball base hitter, and I don't swing hard, thats why I HAVE 500 SWINGS ON MY BAT!

My first 29EL Reebok lasted just under 300 swings. Same as my first Macenko Combat 29 EL. The 2nd and 3rd Combats were good for 600. These bats are only used in 70+ weather. I also only hit 44-375 Senior League balls or 44-400 MicroCells. Just for Reference, I broke a Resmondo Mutant in less than 500 swings and a Worth 454 Reload in 400.
I also try to never hit the ball square, much preferring to cut the ball. Cutting the ball will way prolong the life of a bat vs. hitting it square.
IMO, the Miken Ultra and Worth Senior bats are crap. The end load Reebok has the best pop and about 65% of the Combats life span. While I strongly dislike the small knob on the Reebok, it is my favorite senior bat so far.

I have to agree with Kennard. I had two brand new end loaded 30 oz Reebok Melee's and they both cracked with the wrapping still attached. I returned the bats following my reps instructions (over a year ago)and never heard a thing back from them. I still have one bat which I'm afraid to swing and granted it does have pop but I just have this feeling it's about to break. Just not a fan of Reebok the company anymore and they had such promise.

Well Reebok,

When exceptional players like Kennard & Imlay & The Wood start bitching about these bats you better wake up & start listening....Does the bat have POP?? No question about that!! Are they cheap as HELL after 10 swings?? No doubt about that!!

Does Lecak swing like a PUSS?? He didn't use too! lol

Joe just having fun with you. See you in Vegas!

I just sent mine back to Reebok, we'll see what if anything comes out of this! I WANT MY YELLOW MM COMBAT BACK..I do I DO...LOL

Kennard.... no need to hold back... tell us how you really feel.. I have consistently carried three bats in my bag over the past two years... Yellow combat, gray combat and miken ultra... I have replaced two mikens and presently have a broken Miken ... the two combats (other than having the handle chewed on by one of my dogs) are in fine shape. I have not and will not purchase a Reebok based on things like the above posts.... I will most likely NOT replace the Miken for a third time. Watching hitters like some of those that have posted above, I really don't see any great difference in the POP of the Combats vs the Mikens and the Rebok...If you hit it good with any of those bats its gonna go...I guess I am getting cheap (or cheapER) in my old age and would rather have the durability and spend the money saved on something useful like a dozen Krispy's before the game.. By the way.. I have seen Wood hug Kennard.... not a pretty sight...

Not to split hairs but I wasn't complaining about the Reeboks, I've never tried one. I was just offering my view of the Combats.

There have been many new bats discussed on this board over the past 5-6 years. I have taken the position that I will not try them until they have proven to be durable. This goes for the Veteran Bat, Reebok, 'new and improved' Mikens or whatever.
The exception to this was the white Centenarian... I tried it because of my confidence in Combat in general and in Kevin Schulstrom in particular... and it had been demo'd by some folks that I know.

But an old friend once said 'it is about the carpenter, not the tool'... but I don't want a tool that needs to be replaced every 2-3 months.

Guys, dont you think that all of the DEMO bats seem realy good until they get you hooked on them and the next batches seem to dumb down. That seems to be the case with all companys but some worse than others.Im sure a lot of people have good luck with REEBOK but all my experiences with them has been BAD.

I can't speak about ALL demo bats but I can speak with great certainty about my history with Combat and with Kevin. It was these 2 factors that motivated me to look into the white Combat.
In addition, my friends that used the demos spoke highly of it. Further, I wasn't the first guy in line... I tried a couple of my friends' production models BEFORE I bought one so I never actually saw a demo model.

I have to admit, I did get over 2 years of hitting in league and Tourneys. Well over 400 from each of my Grey Combats.

I really thought that I was over the Reebok(3 bats cracking) thing, but when my Reebok (USSSA) Vector cracked, and its not even a senior bat. I felt discussed..Sad.....
I still have my USSSA Miken (Freak) and Combats {Virus) both are older and used for BP.

Mr. Kennard, why is it that you say no one can get 400+ swings with a reebok and you said yourself that you have 600 swings on a Legacy? I broke my Ultra last year after 40 swings and started using my Reebok, I have close to 170 games on it since last March. I'm not a power hitter like some of you. I'm just hoping that people can tell their views on any subject without being called a liar.

I'm with Kreugs on the Psycho. My 28 Supermax has 1200 cuts on it and I actually used it instead of my Reebok at the last tournament. It is probably 30-40' short of the Reebok but the sweetspot is huge and 360-380' is far enough :-)

But if you've been using the yellow one, the closest Combat to that model is the new blue MM. I know of people who like this version. You can get this one thru Gorilla Boy... or via the Senior Softball web site.

Thanks for the contact info.....After swing the Yellow MM I just got spoiled, so I contacted my friend Gorilla Boy & purchased 2 of the Blue MM thinking they were the same bat as the Yellow....WRONG, the blue is okay & I still have them, but something in them just doesn't feel or produce the same as the Yellow...I don't know if its Zip or Pop but they don't swing the same. I'm a HARD line drive hitter, so ZIP is real important to me!!!!! Thanks again I'll try the white one! Kennard you want to go have on the White Combat?

Ron, make sure that you discuss the proper weight with Kevin. The white bat will clear the zone faster than the yellow one (at the same weight) because of the shorter barrel.
I do have a yellow 26 oz and it's a very good bat with roughly 1,000 swings on it... still going strong.

Don5, You must be new to senior softball? The Miken Ultra II Legacy has not been manufactured in 5 or 6 years. IT’S ONE OF THE MOST DURABLE BATS IN SENIOR SOFTBALL DUD! "You cracked the Legacy in 40 swings"
GO TELL SOMEONE ELSE THAT LIE.

So Don5, Sit back and get a lesson on Miken Ultras. I think you need this,so you'll know just what the hell your talking about.

The 1st Ultra was a Navy Grey color, with a year warrenty. In early 2002, I believe the Ultra II came out and it’s the color you see today. Not the same bat but the same color. The original Ultra 11 was hot out the wrapper and you got a 1 bat replacement warrenty, with an end cap with a W stamped on it. Then Miken made the Ultra II with a medal knob. The reason for the metal knob? So guys like YOU would not Alter the bat. After that Miken went back to the Ultra II that you cracked in 40 swings. PERIOD....
DID I LEAVE ANYTHING OUT GUYS? OH YEA,
the Miken Ultra II Legacy is SILVER/BLACK. HELL YOU'RE 60 SOMETHING, COME ON MAN, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT.

Obviously you didn't take the time to read my post. I said my Ultra broke, not the Legacy bat you have. My bat was the 2011 grey ultra and it broke in 40 swings and Miken replaced it and it’s still in the wrapper. I’ve purchased over 200 Mikens & Combats, (with metal knobs, Made in USA's and Ultras, Ultra IIs, reds, blacks, silvers, yellows and greys for my teams since the original Ultra was called back. My first new Ultra II did not have a "W" on the endcap, when Miken replaced the warranteed bat, they sent a bat with the "W" on it so it could not be sent back..

You seem to be an “expert” on bats, good for you. You also seem easy to use the word lie a lot, maybe if you would slow down and read and comprehend before you lash out like a bully does.
By the way, I have too much integrity to alter or even use an altered bat. I don’t play major plus, so enhancements aren’t my thing.

It's pretty obvious to me, from reading all of your post, that you're not a player, so your advice doesn't hold any weight with me..If you did play, you would know that I'm one of the BEST HiTTERS in Senior Softball! Alan, Thanks for the offer, currently i'm not in need of another bat, I have many available to use. However, I am looking for someone who will give good price breaks to members of my softball association, we have 350 local senior players and many of them inquire as to where they can get a senior bat at a good price. Because I've had such good luck with my Reebok, some of my tourney team members have recently switched to them. I was buying Mikens 10-20 at a time and selling them to the members at cost, but it got too expensive for me to be a warehouse.

A couple of my senior softball budding had great luck with the Reebok so I bought one off Surf88 and so far so good. We play up in the cool damp northwest and both these guys got well over 400 swings on their bats and many of them were with BP balls. One of the guys hit 100+ HR's last year so I would say he hits it pretty good. He had a ballanced and the other guy uses an end load like the one I am trying out. The bat has great pop but we will see how long it lasts.

Your right Gary, proper weight training. I'm sure, from the reports we have had here, and were not addressed by you, that your training consists of making sure you are properly overweight for a fun league player. Sounds like the only 'ZIP' you have is changing channels from the couch. And if you did not understand my post on changing your swing and adjusting for lesser equipment, then you don't get it. And you proved me right.
You posted on here about being injured and having a 5 or 6 times a week weight training regimen, and I bit, because I give everyone the doubt here until they are proved wrong. Silly me, to believe someone like you.

No, right on point. And no purpose to me disproving you, you wouldn't believe any of it anyway. You seem to prefer anonymous sources.

You want me to prove after you failed to provide any proof at all. A bit hypocritical, don't you think? Sorry, rhetorical question. Of course you don't see your hypocricy.

Hi Webbie25, do they know the number of 60 Major plus teams, that will be in Las Vegas yet? GSF, D & K and who else?

Bought the Melee 28 El and wanted to break it in at BP ..I hit maybe 20 BP balls and I see some serious webbing on the bat but no Cracks. Temp that day was 68-70. I am just keeping my fingers crossed I can get to the 400 swing plateau. Has some serious pop but this forum is worrying me just a bit on the life span of this bat. I have always used the Combat "dabomb" for SPA ball and that bat has lasted 3 seasons. I heard the Rebook was just as durable but so much for believing everything you read..Have a tournamet at the end of this month in GA.I'll post the results of the Bat life when I return!

Hay rightrj1 Your Blue MM doesn't fill like the yellow one . Have you try stepping on the handle and rotating it to get more flex in it. It will give you more whip in your swing . Some say the handle is a little stiff

CanIjack-also meant to mention I finally broke my Melee, bought last year at the beginning of the year and with at least 600 cuts on it. Ed was over and saw it right after I did it. (Also broke another U2-darn it-and it was plenty warm this weekend. Crusader gave me an old 29 U2 he bought off a guy who retired. It worked ok, too. Thanks, Ron!

Not sure who ever decided that making a bat handle flex was good thing, but it really isn't. The more a handle flexes the less the walls of the bat compress and the less rebound. Maybe somebody was watching the two guys on seniorsoftballbatreviews, but let me assure you when they talk about standing on the handle to make it flex more they are clueless.

Hey Webbie, Yes my Fan Grabber team will also be in Vegas in April & Reno in May, so hopefully we'll have a chance to meet, get a beer and talk a little softball! James LG, Wow I want to play in your leagues, you get to use Senior Bats?? Our Senior leagues her in Southern Cal only allow ASA bats....Quine, thanks for the advice, I also rotate my bats when I'm taking BP to get them broken in all the way....but after swing the Yellow MM for 2 + seasons & thinking the BlueMM would give me the same pleasure as the yellow...well for me it just didn't happen! The Blue is OK, just not like the yellow..
I'm a Combat Man never have like the U2..Waiting on my White one to come in, I'll update all after I take it out for a test drive!

rightrj-We will be at both-really hope we can have that beer!
I tried Mike Adair's Yellow Combat-I do want to try it in BP to see what it can do. I hit it hard a couple times with it, but trying a new bat in a game is usually not the best test. Darn, I wish the U2 did not fit my swing so well.

Hey Webbie, Which Melee did you break? The Balance or End load. 600 swings, it had to be balance. I see a lot more cracks in End loads than balance bat.

It was a 28 balanced-the red one. But it lasted from the beginning of last year, but was more bp that game. Wish I liked it better, but it is just me.
