Discussion: Miken Ultra 2 Advanced

Hi all:

Many years ago Miken had a brief run of the Ultra 2 advanced bats with the small metal nob instead of the normal one. I don't know much about the bat but remember a few guys really liked them. Do any of you know if the barrel was the same as the regular U2 or was it a totally different bat?

Thanks:

James

Hi All:

So now that this bat has been out for a while are they good performing bats? I have only seen one used one for sale so that is usually a positive sign.

Thank You:

Hi Dave:

Our company and some of our suppliers get a lot of products from China and I think it is time for you to shop for a new shipping company. A 3-5 month wait is common but how long have you had the SSUSA ball on order?

Thanks:

If the Trump Stote shipment finally arrives, I hope it is used. About a month ago I was told they may be in later this month.

Discussion: Hows the new ball performing at worlds Dave?

I spoke to a 60M player yesterday who said their team hit a total of 5 HRs at BLD in 5 games. He said if you throw in a new ball every 2-3 innings that will help. He was not complaining just telling it like it is.

Since Major+ players represent a very small % of the field it is more important to hear what the AAA and M players say about the ball. The ones I have spoken to have not had very good things to say about the new ball. I respect the Major+ players but let's be honest they are at a different level that a large majority of most of us.

Discussion: Coming to Tacoma WA area this weekend for 3 months

Hi Gary:

Every Tuesday and Friday morning around 9:00am a bunch of seniors take BP at the RAC in Lacy. It is about a 20 mile drive south of Tacoma. Great group of people and I believe you would be welcome. We pay $20 a month to hit at a very nice turf complex.

Discussion: Suncoast Bats

Hi All

I have a Suncoast Diamond 12" end load and I was looking at the Suncoast Melee Max 12" end load. Can someone tell me what is the main difference in these two bats? Are they weighted the same?

Thanks:

James

I suggest give it a try allowing one 69 year old and if it works, great and if it does not go well change it back to where we are now.

I can see both points on this issue but since we are in changing times with Covid and other issues this country is facing I would like to see SSUSA give this a sample try in 2022 allowing one 69 year old to play 70s. Just my $.02

Merry Christmas everybody.

Thanks Tim:

They sound like OK fields. I assume 300' fences. Probably fast infields if they are dirt.

Hi All:

This year the 65M division is playing at Sunset Park in Vegas. I have never played at this one or heard much about it so can someone tell if it has turf infields or how this one ranks compared to the others in Vegas.

Thank You:

Discussion: Dont blame SSUSA for the ball problem.

Thanks for all the information.

Dave I guess my question would be isn't there a better ball available than the dud we have been using? We do appreciate your efforts on this issue. Our BP softballs that have been hit hundreds of times are much better than the tournament ball we been using.

I don't believe players are blaming SSUSA for the shipment of balls not arriving in time for these tournaments. I believe the biggest complaint is there are much better options readily available than the ball we have been using in these tournaments. A used league game ball is a much better options than the Dud we been using.

Discussion: Balls for Rock N Reno

Rock N Reno was a very well run tournament with great umpires but the ball was a dud. It would have been much better to use slightly used SSUSA Stotes than the ball we had for this event. Jusy my $.02

Thanks

Discussion: Which Ball travels further: ASA or SSUSA

A crap ball like the one we used in Reno actually shrinks the field for the weaker hitting team making them easier to defend. Outfielder can play much shallower cutting off many of the softer hit ball. I believe a mush ball actually makes it easier for the stronger team to beat the weaker one.

I have and always will support SSUSA and Dave but that last response was a real beauty. All you need to do is watch 40s play and then 60+ and you can see where the quality of the ball comes into play. It is true both teams hit the same ball but that does not justify using a sub par ball.

Does anyone know if this ball is comparable to the ball we usually use?
