Discussion: 70 M+ team in need of middle infielder and an outfielder

Enviro-Vac 70 M+ is looking for a middle infielder and an outfielder for the Reno tournament. We lost a couple of players recently to major health issues. My email is tonygoularte24@gmail.com

Yes Webbie, half the team aged up so Jim K is coaching the old guys and I get the kids. It took awhile to fill our teams but hopefully I think the 70 guys should be fairly competitve and I know Jim will field a strong 75 team. Both teams will be in Reno and Salem for sure. As you know it's always tough to find M+ players at our age. Will you be playing with the Scorpions again this year? You all were a class act last year, very tough team to beat. Best of luck to you Webbie, always enjoy chatting with you when I am coaching 3rd base.

Discussion: 70 Major Plus teams playing in Vegas

Hi Don, unfortunatley Enviro-Vac Marauders is unable to play in Vegas in April. I will be missing too many players to field a team. We will be playing in the Rock N Reno tourney in late May and the Jim Sherman Memorial in Salem Oregon in mid July. I'm sure Doug will have Timberworks at both those tournaments and I'm hoping Over the Edge can attend them too. Don, thanks for posting your message since there are not many 70M+ teams, it's nice to see a few more teams interested in participating in SSUSA tournaments in 2024. Good luck and hope to see you on the field this year.

2 1/2 months might be a little early. I guess it depends what position you are playing. I pitch and play 1B. Covering first on a grounder to the 1st baseman I couldn't beat the runner even at 6 months post op. I can probably do it now but you will find that the first game you play in, you will be sore. Like Murray the speedster said, it will be a year before you really start feeling normal again.

I've been going to the YMCA everyday since my PT ended, you will never have the ROM you had before the replacement, but you can strengthen your leg to pre surgery strength and in the coming months you will notice improvements.

Get a leg elevation pillow and use it all the time, I slept with my leg on it the first couple of weeks. make sure you get the pillow and ice machine before your surgery. Just be careful and don't push yourself too hard, you'll know what I'm talking about the first time you do it.

Hi George, I had a total knee replacement 11 months ago. I had been bone on bone for years. Slipped in the snow and tore my ACL so had the total knee surgery. I strongly suggest you have the anesthesiologist give you a nerve block above the knee right before surgery, save you some pain those first couple of days. Get an ice machine and use it religously. Work hard on getting as much range of motion as you can early. Go to PT as much as you can and when they say they have done enough then join the YMCA or gym and continue working to get that leg strong. Lots of walking and bike riding really helps, stationary bikes when the weather is bad but biking really helps with the ROM. I started playing 4 months after my surgery, could only jog to first base then but by Worlds it was much better but still not 100%. good luck, work hard and you'll be fine

Murray you know everything is difficult for me. That's why I don't do anything without consulting you. :))

Discussion: Knee replacement

I would recommend a total. I worked 45 years in a big hospital. 30 years in surgery and several close friends are excellent orthopedic surgeons. Dec. 2022 I slipped and tore my ACL. I was already bone on bone and consulted my orthopedic friends and they all said do a total knee. I had my surgery last March and was back on the field playing in July. Running was difficult but I could jog to first. Played in Vegas and won World's at 70 M , even got an all-star patch. I'm 72 and if you religiously do your rehab and ice you should be able to play within 6 months. But like MurrayW told me, work hard rehabbing and you will see results. Get a couple of more opinions from good orthopedic surgeons to ease your mind. Good luck.

Discussion: Partial knee replacement

I had a total knee replacement March 20th. I started PT om March 22. Used a walker for 4 days and a cane for 5 days. Used Oxycodone only once on March 22nd right before I went to PT because the nerve block wore off that morning. Have been taking Tylenol for pain, seems to work fine. I can walk pain free for the last couple of days without any aides. I chatted with Murray before my surgery and am doing what he recommended, by reducing the swelling with Berg ice machine which is a great investment, elevating the knee above my heart and working hard in PT to get my ROM (range of motion) back. the hardest part is getting your knee straight, bending is painful but I get more ROM each PT visit which I do twice a week. Try and walk as much as you can, I get my stitches taken out tomorrow and my PT therapist says I am doing amazingly well. Good luck and be diligent with your PT.

Discussion: Llerandi Gloves- Senior Softball-USA

Just received my new custom Llerandi glove. Japanese KIP leather, very nice pocket for a softball glove. Has my name and jersey # on it and a USA and Canadian flag on it too. Feels good and even though it is brand new the ball stays in the glove playing catch. Red first basemans glove with blue stitching, nice looking. If you're interested in one of Lou's gloves I would recommend you give him a call. I would be happy to show you my glove if you want to see the quality, I play for Envirovac 70 majors and will be in Reno the end of May and Salem in mid July at the Jim Sherman Memorial.

Discussion: Llerandi Gloves- Senior Softball-USA

Hi Benji....I also ordered a custom glove from Lou and it should be here in a couple of weeks. For the price I don't think anyone can beat his gloves. I have a 20 year old Nokona and to replace it would be $600. Lou worked with me and I got a personalized glove with matching team colors and a Canadian and US flag on it to commemorate my team Envirovac out of BC Canada. If you are really interested in a nice glove give Lou a call, he is great to work with and he will hook you up with whatever size glove you need and he has a ton of colors.

Lou thanks again for making my custom glove selection so easy.
