Discussion: May I use a Jimmerstick as a warm-up bat?

For sanctioned SSUSA tournaments, Rule 3.4 lists the requirements for a WB. Am I permitted to use a Jimmerstick? It obviously can't be confused with an official bat. It seems to meet all the requirements.

Discussion: How about listing the Hall of Famers on this Website?

How about putting a section on the top of the website which you can click on. It then unfolds to all the SSUSA hall of famers….when they were inducted…and maybe short biographies. That would be cool! Maybe it’s there..but I couldn’t seem to find it.

Discussion: 3 and 1: Take the pitch or swing away?

I love the discussion on this. Some really good insights. Thank you! As you can see, there is no absolute "right" or "wrong" here. Some people will swing no matter what. Some will take the pitch. Some will look at the specific game situation. That is one of the things that makes this game so great!

Let's say there is one out, bottom of the 4th. You are a good hitter. You are down by 1 run. You have 1 runner on base. You know the next pitch is going to be straight down the center of the plate, exactly where you like it. The argument for taking the pitch: 1. Chance of walk (OBP) 2. Make the pitcher work. 3. A walk doesn't hurt your OBP. The argument for swinging away: 1. Get a good pitch to hit and swing! 2. If you take a meatball, the next pitch won't be straight down the center: aka...a touch harder to control.

Thoughts? Perspectives?

So, due to the rule changes, we can take 2 players from outside Washington's immediate borders. You need to reside in a State that is West of the Mississippi. Keep in mind that most of our tournaments are in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, except for Worlds and a few other TOCs.

Keep in mind, per SSUSA rules, you would need to live in a neighboring state of Washington...or in Washington. Thx to those from Cali who contacted me...but I can't pick up players from Cali.

Discussion: Batting

Everyone has the opportunity to improve, no matter who you are. There are two essential components to achieve more distance: 1. Technique. 2. Practice. Power hitters are made, they are not born. Check out these videos: http://sportstechnique.com/swing-makeover-shows.html I recommend hitting off the T. It doesn't help timing, but it does help to focus on technique. I also strongly recommend video-taping yourself. It will help you identify the flaws, which you can then correct. The greatest hitter in the world, Ted Williams, used to get very upset when people called him a "natural". He would show them his hands, which had callouses all over them from batting practice. He would practice until his hands actually bled. He worked harder than most people. Hard, focused work and good technique will help you achieve your goal.

Mine cracked after 240 swings. Above 70 F. 375/44. Great bat, but you have to have a lot of money for replacement bats. I expect more out of DeMarini

@Dolfan - Tom is doing his very best. Nothing is for sure during this Pandemic. If a spikes occur in that county, it could potentially be called off. I would suggest ensuring you have early termination rights in any of your travel plans.
