Discussion: Defensive Philsophy @ World Masters

Yesterday at the World Masters, Sunset Park, the 50's Majors were playing.
Several teams used a 3 outfielder and 5 infielder defensive set up instead of the usual 4 outfielder/4 infielder defense.

With the way these guys hit, what is the reasoning for this type of set up?

Discussion: A QUESTION FOR YOU BAT GEEKS

Hi All
I am interested in comparing the new Miken Big Cat to the Combat Jeff Wallace Centenarian. I realize the Miken is a 2 piece and the Combat is not also the Miken may be just a bit more end loaded. But is there any other real difference between the two bats?

Not only is Miken the most popular senior bat company....

arguably the most popular senior bat of all time is the Miken UII black bat.....

followed by the Original Combat Da'Bomb gray senior bat!!

From what I can tell the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th posts on this thread are about broken Reebok Barrage bats.

Sure makes me want to buy one!

Take a good look at 40 M+ teams to find hitters that can hit softballs 300 feet with wood bats. 2 guys that I think have that ability would be Jose Canseco and possibly Super Dave Vasquez. What about Mike Machenko? I have no doubt there are many others in the upper age levels. You just need to look around to find them.

Does Combat, Miken and other bat companies have a way of identifying which batch their bats are made from? Serial numbers or something?

How do Reebok engineers know which batch their bats are made?
