July 8, 2018 SoCal'er | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Speed up game Clarify 7th..if it's a tie, leave it that way. |
July 8, 2018 SoCal'er | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Speed up game We play it in league twice a week. It's not set up to give the old guys a break from going back and forth between innings. We play 9 innings in the time it takes for 7. Pitcher has 3 warm-up pitches for two innings. Don't need to wait for the pitcher to find his mask and shine guards. The next batter up is already on deck. I think it's a good option for seeding games and let them end in a tie after 7. |
April 24, 2017 SoCal'er | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Playing with a 5 man infield... I know that there are teams that play with a five man infield, other than 70 and above. So I would like to get all of your opinions on how you utilize the middleman, when it comes to the double play situation. When or if he is used to turn it. Keeping in mind he is usually playing to the strong side, based on the hitter. |
Oct. 11, 2015 SoCal'er | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: 70 AAA schedule Masters-Bitch time We (65 team)played at night and had the same difficulties seeing. When you have players coming off the field and saying they can't pick the ball up off the bat, that's not a good thing. We had a couple players that said they have no problem sitting that game. We are good with the 3 days "if" you can keep us away from night games. I also wonder if having the 'Pacific Rim' tourney mixed in forced a 3 day tourney. |
Aug. 28, 2013 SoCal'er | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: So, you don't wear pitching protective gear!! If your a manager and have a pitcher that takes a blood thinner,i.e. coumadine or other. You should make it mandatory that he wear headgear. Any ball to the face or head is bad but combined with that medication is far worse. |

Sept. 26, 2011 SoCal'er | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Largely attended tourney's Other than Spa Nationals, what are the consistently large tourney's in the east and midwest? Our team would like to plan on attending one in 2012. |
Aug. 31, 2011 SoCal'er | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: LVSSA World Masters Any teams planning on going to Vegas Sept.23,24,25. 55's all divisions and 60's AA & AAA , if so what age and division. I understand most games will be in Henderson. |
March 16, 2011 SoCal'er | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Laughlin The fields are not very good. Rotary pk. has very short cut infields, most infielders play on grass. Outfields look like soccer is played on it and not much water on it. Fovargue pk is better of the two. Enjoy the parking lot there. Kingman might have better fields, have not seen them for years. |
Dec. 15, 2010 SoCal'er | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Game length There are 2 leagues that I know of here in So Calif that play 2 innings in a row. 7th, one only, of course. Once you get used to it, it's great. No more pitcher warming up or outfielders running or walking out to position every inning. We are able to play 2, 7 inning games in 2 hrs. If it's all about playing time then this is a good way to get it. |
July 22, 2010 SoCal'er | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: NASCS WorldSeries Nascs web site has posted Palm Springs Ca. as the location and dates 9-26 thru 10-3. Not sure which ages on which dates. Curious, which teams are going ? |
Feb. 26, 2010 SoCal'er | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tournament winnings......???????? Due you remember when you started in Senior softball ? I was told '5 game guarantee', I thought, wow! that's great. The young guys in our area pay that much for double elimination tourney's. My guess is if you wanted a 2 game guarantee, you'd get awards. Most players want to play more games instead of awards. We also get longer games than than they do. When they charge $450 + there making money. |
Nov. 14, 2009 SoCal'er | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: NOTE REGARDING LAS VEGAS PLAYING FACILITIES I agree that it will make DP's easier and give more advantage to the outfielder throwing a runner out. As to infielders deeper, 50's and some 55's may be helped but most 60's and up are playing as deep as they can get away with and still get it to 1st.I like the 70' bases, not automatic 1st to 3rd and 2nd to home on a hit. |
