Taking the fans out of Wrigley Field made it look more realistic :).

Discussion: Left behind at Worlds

I've been frustrated after tournaments before but never just left all of my equipment there and walked off :). Must have had a bad day. Joking aside, if it didn't have a name tag somewhere on it, it was probably someone relatively local who thinks it is in the trunk of their car. Anyone who checked the bag would likely have a name tag on it.

Discussion: Hows the new ball performing at worlds Dave?

I play 55 AAA. I hit as many out as I usually do. It's not a Rock but I personally think the Rock us too much. The ball did get dirty quickly and did retain the color of the dirt which I thought was strange. I never saw a ball do that before. Anyone who hit an HR earned it and that's the way it should be.

Discussion: Batting out of order

If the runner on third was paying attention or anyone else on the team (scorekeeper, coach, etc.), you should know that you have to attempt to score from 3rd on that at bat under that circumstance so you tag up and go on the fly ball. You try to keep it quiet or the other teams just walks the batter and the inning is over. I would think that the runner on 3rd had to know that he was up next. Did he attempt to score?

Discussion: OYO Hotel - Be Aware

For anyone staying at OYO, I am aware of a few reports of rooms being broken into and items stolen. If you do choose to stay there, be aware that you should make sure your door closes all of the way to your room and deadbolt it.

SSUSA: I would recommend not using this facility as one of your sponsored hotels. They don't deserve the business. I know they are not your responsibility but I would not want to be associated with that place in any way.

Discussion: Looking for opinions and or thoughts

Does anyone know whether or not you can decline the equalizer in an SSUSA sanctioned tournament? We were told once at a tourney that it had to be taken. Is that correct? The rule book doesn't seem to address whether or not it is required. it just explains what the equalizer is and when it applies.

Midwest Championships should be in KC or St. Louis for sure. This is an annual comment. That tourney just doesn't draw enough teams in Rogers. The facility is also not up to par there either.

Discussion: Sweet Construction/Eastern Nationals

We had to pull out of a tournament for the first time since I've been playing senior ball last week due to injuries. Everyone had travel plans and rooms booked as well. We only had 11 and one person we were counting on as part of the 11 couldn't go based on doctor's advice. Out of the remaining 10, 2 were nursing injuries so we likely would have forfeited games if we did go. There was no bail out disease involved. Just couldn't field a team. We were as sorry it played out that way as anyone.

Discussion: Need clarification on rule batter box lines

We played at the Smokies at Know County Sportsplex and there were no lines there for the box at any time from what I recall. Our manager wanted to complain about one of the batters on the other team being out of the box and I told him to let it go because if there aren't any lines, how can you expect the umpire to make that call. I'm surprised that call was made on you. My personal opinion is that if there are no lines, you can't be out of the box.

Discussion: UTRIP -senior ?

Irishmike. If you're just getting back into things and don't want to spend top dollar, look on line for older models that are still NIW. Overall, you won't see much of a difference between what is the hot model today over a 2019 model. There are used bats for sale as well but that's a bit more risky because you don't know how they were treated by the seller and senior bats are more likely to break.

If you can find anyone in your area that would let you take a few swings with different models, that's even better so you can get an idea of what you like. Good luck.

Discussion: Intentional walk used to nulify a dominate hitter.

Consistently not pitching to someone in league play is pretty crappy. Maybe bat him at lead off and at least you get someone on base to start the game each time. The only real cure for that is having someone that can mash right behind him so it costs the team walking him.

I thought that I would add this as it may help you. There is a different login for renewing memberships as there is for commenting on this board. If you log in using your message board login/password, you will not see the registration. I have a separate log in to use to register. I'm not sure if that is just the way I happened to do it or if it's that way for everyone but thought I'd pass that on in case it helps.

I don't know that person or team but it certainly adds perspective on things. Condolences to Jimmy, his team and all who knew her. The softball families are close and I'm sure all are affected by that loss. Jimmy was lucky to have a wife that traveled with him and was a part of everything. I know that I enjoy tournaments more when my wife makes the trip with us.

Just curious, are you planning on using a different ball like you did for the World Masters tournament on those fields? I suspect you will have to based on our experience there last year.

Discussion: shoes

If you play outfield and want a comfortable waterproof shoe, I like the Merrell trail shoes (with gore-tex). You pay more for these like Benji said about the Hoka's, but to me it's the best investment you can make if you're playing a lot of softball. I wish I would have made a switch to a quality shoe a long time ago.

Discussion: Interference?

Based on the scenario as described, I could see the second baseman being upset about getting run over on a force out situation. That wouldn't go over very well if it happened to me. The runner needs to slide or give himself up but I agree with BJ on the ruling. Seems like careless base running to me.

Discussion: Should there have been a call

I'm just jealous that someone is playing softball right now. Who cares about the call?

My only comment on the play is that I appreciate Randall looking for feedback. That means you care and are trying just like the players are. I'll take an ump like you on my field all day long. Have a great holiday everyone!
