Aug. 28 hitman Men's 70 339 posts | Many of you know Wayne and many don't, but Wayne is an 8 year liver transplant survivor and a retired Atlanta detective. Wayne has developed abscesses on his liver and went through a very rough period this month. The liver problems have taken a toll on his heart and he is not strong enough to have another Liver transplant and now Doctors have told him that there is nothing more that they can do for him except try to keep him comfortable. He will be moved from Emory Hospital in Atlanta into a palliative care facility with Hospice. Wayne has many friends and has played with many ball teams and everybody is a friend to Wayne. I have had the pleasure of playing with him on Huffman Electric and several other teams and wish him and his family peace and comfort during these trying times. He has a website setup on caringbridge.org where you may visit for updates and tributes for Wayne. He will always be on the Lord's All-American Team and in the lineup everyday. Please remember to pray for his comfort in this trying time. The Hitman #13 |

Aug. 29 hemi racer Men's 65 237 posts | We don't understand why bad things happen to good people. We just have to keep faith that our LORD has a perfect plan for all of us and this is GOD'S plan for Wayne. My prayers are with Wayne and especially his family in this time of trail. |
Aug. 31 southpaw Men's 70 1077 posts | Over the past several years, a great blessing occurred in my life. Wayne sought me out and we became friends. We enjoyed each other's company at the ballparks and over the phone occasionally. We talked about softball, fun things, and occasionally about spiritual things, Bible things. That is what I am most impressed about with him and his family--a solid citizen of this world and the One to come. May our Lord surround you, Wayne and family, with His love and mercy. |
Sept. 17 Perl 212 posts | Just received word that Wayne passed away last night. Wayne was truly one of the Great Guys who always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to hang out with. May God Bless Wayne's family during this most trying time. Gonna miss you Big Fella |
