Discussion: Prayers for Roger "Doc" Clay

Just got word that Roger "Doc" Clay is battling cancer. Doc currently resides in Plano.

I am not sure who Doc has been playing with. If you have any information about his recent play please post.

Doc played on the great DuBose Insurane team of the 70-80s in Pensacola.

Please keep Doc and his family in your prayers.
Doc is in very serious condition since his cancer returned. He has not played much in recent years, but was a major player in younger days and is in the Hall of Fame. I know of few guys with such a knowledge of hitting and passion for softball. Im always amazed to see the scope of people he touched. He is on our advisory staff at sportstechnique and has taught me volumes about the game. He is also a great guy and super company.
Rclay9@aol.com is Docs email. He is very tired in intensive care but I know his wife Barb is reading emails, and im sure it would cheer him up to have some.
Alan an Bogie

Very cool that you two know Doc. With Alan being a serious R&D guy and Bogie being one of the vidoe/hitting icons. Back in the day Doc was testing bats for Ray DeMarini.

if any of Docs family reads this Sam Galloway sends his love and remembers his wedding day many years ago when Doc was in the wedding party.
Prayers coming from out west.

Perl: I do not think I know Roger; but I remember back a few years ago in Pensacola that an Ump Ronnie W. had cancer & we brought him into our circle; ALL the band of Brothers laid hands upon him and the Spirit moved and he is now clean. I was in NC & was praying & speaking of RW & some in the group in that area had heard of the healing......Amazing!!

Every time we see him; he gleems with joy; so the same can happen for Roger.

Lord: he that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the Shadow of the Almighty; under His wings shall we be shielded; therefore; we the Senior Band of Brothers stand up with prayer in Faith to this condition in Roger and we declare that thru your mighty words that you will send physical deliverance his way.........This We Believe!!!

Big John

You are so right about Ronnie Whitehurst. He is doing great and is a fantastic witness.

Hope to you and Columbus LX family soon.

Merry Christmas and GOD Bless.
He was in my wedding many years ago. Used to take BP after work. Super guy and super player. All our prayers with him and Barb in this difficult time.
Sam

I know Doc is a very special friend of yours. We will continue to pray for him and his family.

Congrats on winning the Toys for Tots tournament.

Merry Christmas to all and GOD Bless
I just learned that Doc passed away this morning. Please keep Barb in your prayers in the coming days.

I was a late comer to Doc's long established hitting group in Dallas, but have always appreciated his letting me join in, even though I was no where near his caliber as a hitter.

Although, he hadn't played much in recent years,, he was still dedicated to his BP group and was still a very strong hitter until the cancer interfered.

Incidently, for those who don't know, Roger was known to everyone as "Doc" because he held a PhD in Chemical Engineering.

Rest in Peace, Doc.
A real loss to his family and our softball family. Can't believe it.
Does anyone have the link to Docs obituary?
