Discussion: 60 Major Team (TRI-C MACHINE) Looking for an Additional Pitcher

Maint, I currently pitch for a 50s Major team in Nor Cal. I'm 63 and looking for a 60s team too. Unfortunately, not available for Reno. If down the road you still need an additional pitcher, contact me at ovr50fn@att.net. Thanks.

LeeLee50, michael697 is correct, I'm not taking issue to our team being moved up after winning the 2015 Nor Cal Cup. My point is the that the team that won both Reno and Nor Cal Cup in 2016 should also be moved up.

EP1964, I feel your pain. In 2015, our team won the 50 AAA Nor Cal Championship and we were immediately moved up to 50 Majors. At Nor Cal, We lost one of the seeding games and it took the "if" game for us to win the Championship. The team you are referring to in your post won both Reno and Nor Cal Championship this year. In Reno, they beat us by 9 runs. Unfortunately, SSUSA has not posted the game scores for these 2 tournaments. Yes, this is totally unbelievable. Maybe SSUSA can provide an explanation.

On 7/26, I was told by SSUSA that the new ratings have not yet been posted and would be after they contacted the managers of the teams that have been re-rated. I hope the new ratings come out before the Western Nationals.

In prior years the new ratings would come out in June, after the Rock 'N Reno, Nor Cal and So Cal Championships. Last year we won the Nor Cal and were immediately bumped up. I hope SSUSA does the same this year with the winners of the above tournaments.

I don't believe the new ratings have come out. Last year they came out in June. They should have posted well before the Western Nationals.

Discussion: Calling all pitchers.

Dan,

I'm 62 and I started pitching 2 years ago. I currently pitch for a 50s major team. Mechanics and practice is the key for me. I go to the fields 2 to 3 times a week and practicing pitching with a mat. I found when I was pitching too short I was not pushing off with my legs. I'm also a right hand thrower. To avoid having my pitches go to the left, I swing my right arm back close to my body and lock my wrist. This allows me to deliver the pitch in a straight forward motion. As mentioned above, it is very important that after your delivery you are in a position to defend yourself. Best of luck.

stattad, so what you are saying is that even though I'm 61 (will be 62 next season) and playing 50s Major, I can't move down two ratings to 60s AA. What level can I play at 60s?

Our team is starting tournament play this Friday at Big League Dreams complex. Are there any fields close by to practice before our games on Friday?

Swing, we have been lucky not getting the sun field. I just hope I don't have to pitch looking into the sun. Good luck in Medford. 8BALLER, I'm the pitcher for Bad Seed. Great hitting against us in the championship game. Yes we will be in Vegas.

Swing, that was a great game against your Warrior team. It is always a pleasure playing against the Warriors. Will we see you at the Hall of Fame tourney this weekend?

Discussion: SSUSA how can we get reclassed? MTC 50 2014 major Plus

Tim, good luck with getting re-rated. Per the guidelines used by SSUSA, they can re-rate a team after 3 tournaments. Our team just got re-rated (AAA to Major 50) after 2 tournaments. I have asked for an explanation but no response yet. I'm also surprised that the Warriors were re-rated to 50 Major.

Appreciate the information. Hopefully the grass fields are better this year. Hate to pay $695 to play on bad fields. Our team is staying on the strip so I guess we should allow plenty of time to get there. How is the weather in Vegas at the end of Sept.
