I agree 100%. We have guys planning to fly in for the 65 plus games scheduled to start Tuesday. I am afraid some of the guys will drop out if we don’t get an official announcement soon regarding this session. The chance of rain is 80% or more for those days. Please advise!

Discussion: rotator cuff rehab

Just over two years ago I torn my rotator and labrum swinging on a low inside pitch. The doctor said the labrum tear was 360 degrees and he had to cut through the remaining rotator to fix the labrum, then repaired the rotator.

The surgery was just under two years ago. I rehab hard with an experienced PT that works with pitchers. The arm is just now starting to get strong and it is close to what I had before the tear.

I think your recovery is directly related to the type of injury and your dedication to the rehab process. Get a good PT specialist and don't try to do too much too quick.

Good luck to all you guys currently going through this!!!

Discussion: New Reebok?

The two piece Reebok will not be available for at least 5 to 6 months if not longer. The bat has not been submitted for testing as of yet. This process will take two to three months, once the bat is approved an order is turned in, the manufacturing process, shipping to the states, warehousing and transport to the retailers will take a minimum of an additional three to four months.

I tested several versions of this two piece design. The final version is the best two piece bat I have ever hit. I rated this bat slightly better than the Melee Legend due to an increased sweet-spot and the test bats were slightly more durable than the typical Legend. Davey Reed tested this bat also.

Tri18 is correct, the Melee Legend is still being produced and will still be manufactured. "The Melee Legend will not be banned".

Reebok will not be making a 10" barrel senior bat.

I hope this clears up the confusion.

Discussion: Reebok Replacement bats

Hi Guys,

I just received word that Reebok mailed the replacement bats out yesterday on the bats that they deemed to have experienced a manufacture's defect. This was performed on a case by case basis. To qualify for a replacement bat as the result of an early barrel failure, the bat has to have 100 swings or less on it.

I understand Reebok has been slow to get the replacement bats out and for that I apologize. The demand for the Reebok Melee Legend has been outstanding and the stock has been very limited. Reebok has finally caught up enough to get these replacement bats out.

Of course with any program some people have attempted to take advantage of this program. My understanding is that bats which appear to have more than 100 swing +/- have been rejected for replacement.

Approximately 6% of the bats had an outer layer of composite which was not wrapped, or pulled in tight enough. Reebok was able to identify the problem and have implemented the solution, which simply required the bat be constructed to specs. Therefore, no changes are being made to the bat, it is simply being produced correctly now.

In addition, Reebok determined how to detect if a bat has this condition and the newest shipment of bats, which is arriving to the states now, has been checked and any potential defective bats have been pulled from this shipment.

Again, if you experienced an early bat failure on a Reebok Melee Legend bat, I want to apologize for your inconvenience. You should have your replacement bat arriving soon.

I hope this helps,
Curt Hollis

Mario, it because you are a beast! 6'5" 260 lbs with no body fat and you have a great swing.....they should ban him, not the bat! LOL.

It hits right there with the Ultra so if one goes, so should the other. It is showing some durability, which is sorely needed.

Discussion: Austin, Texas Batting Practice?

The bat matches the Ultra II in distance and I got 750 swings on my 28 ounce end loaded model. I usually get 80 to 120 swings on the red ultra before they break.

I might be able to spice it up a bit for you guys. Get a BP group together and I'll send my Reebok senior bat out there with Audie for everyone to hit.

Discussion: Reebok Senior Bat

The balls we are hitting are left over from February's Classic Spring Training event. They are 44/375 Trump Stotes.

This is not the bat that was raffled off at last years TOC. The bat you are describing sounds like the Reebok Vector O. This is a new senior bat and it does not have the holes in the handle.

The swing count has risen to to 628 wings with 517 swings put on by major plus players with good power.

Good thread, keep it rolling...one thing though, if you are changing the balls to control the game, make sure you know what you are doing.

The statement:
1. WHEN YOU DO ANYTHING WITH A BALL OR BAT THERE IS ABOUT A 15-20 FOOT DIFFERENCE IN THE DISTANCE OF THE BALL
EXAMPLE 50CORE TO 47CORE , 47CORE TO 44CORE , ASA BATS TO USSSA BATS , USSSA BATS TO SENIOR BATS .

Not exactly true regarding the balls if your looking to tone them down and make it safer.....You should increase the core, not decrease the core while you decrease the compression.

Discussion: Reebok Senior Bat

Just wanted to give you guys a update on the Reebok senior bat. I'm putting a production model 28 ounce end load through its paces. The bat is performing very well but that is not what I wanted to report. I got to say I've been really impressed with the durability. Here is a rundown on the sessions.
Saturday - 70 swings - Me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Sunday - 60 swings - Me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Monday - 45 swings - Glen Smith (AAA)
Tuesday - 70 swings - me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Thursday - 155 swings - me/Audie Hollis/Randy Parker/Steve Dorrell (Major Plus)
The bat currently has 400 swings on it with 355 swings by major plus players that hit with very good power. I break a lot of bats and get 60-80 swings out of Launch 510, about 100 to 150 out of an Ultra and roughly 300+/- out of the Combat. These other major plus players break bats but not at I rate I do. Personally I think I have roughly 150 swings on this bat. I never thought this bat would last 400 swings with these guys swinging it. The bat still looks good, it has some fine spider cracking. No rattles yet.

They also sent me a couple personal bats to hit and give them some feedback on. I hit a round with my brother, Audie, earlier today using 44/375 balls. We used a 28 ounce end load and hit directly into a stiff wind coming in from left center. We both hit from the right side but right out of the wrapper the bat had no problem with 300' into the wind. We put 70 swings on it. The bat feels good and has a nice sweet-spot. I know I can't be considered impartial because of my connection to Reebok. Audie, on the other hand, doubted the production model would hang with his red, end loaded Ultra II. I knew going in he would be my toughest critic....After we got done, he said he was impressed......and he wants his Hollis Appraisal team to go exclusively with the new Reebok senior bats. Whew...relief!

Hey Hitsone,

Both versions of the Reebok senior softball bat have been tested for the 1.21 BPF and they both have passed this test and are approved for senior softball standards. I think the release date is January 1, 2011. There will be few demos available in a few weeks. I'll be taking demo request thru Tuesday at 5:00pm and then the selection process will begin.

Thanks,

Hey Beachbum, no offense taken here...your just telling it like it is.

On another note, I'm scheduled to receive some bats today that are being flown in for "show". Lookie, touchie, feelie but no hit'ie. These bats will be used in some photo shoots and then taken to a few upcoming tournaments for the guys to see.

Still no word on the demos, they are coming over with the regular shipment by ship.

The bat you used was the Reebok Vector O, it was the USSSA version, not the senior bat. The 2011 senior bat will not have the holes in the handle....I think they are thinking seniors are set in their ways and would resist change. LOL. I have seen a number of the Vector O's in action and they hit the ball well. I have one myself.
