TROPICAL STORM ETA
WITH THE FORECAST OF THE TROPICAL STORM PLAYING HAVOC WITH THE WINTER NATIONALS CAN THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS MOVE THE TOURNAMENT TO THE END OF THE WEEK OR TO THE FOLLOWING WEEK. I THINK MOST PLAYERS CAN ADJUST THEIR RESERVATIONS AND ARRIVALS. VERY DIFFICULT, BUT IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION.WEATHER FORECAST IS VERY POOR.IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF SOMEONE CAN MESSAGE US ON-LINE OF WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS SITUATION.
THANKS

I agree 100%. We have guys planning to fly in for the 65 plus games scheduled to start Tuesday. I am afraid some of the guys will drop out if we don’t get an official announcement soon regarding this session. The chance of rain is 80% or more for those days. Please advise!

Accuweather extended weather forecast for Ft. Myers as of 1:00 pm EST on Saturday, 11/07/2020 ...

SESSION #1
• TUESDAY - High: 82° - Winds subsiding; a couple of morning showers followed by a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon - Est. precipitation: 0.14"
• WEDNESDAY - High: 84° - Breezy in the morning; cloudy with a couple of showers around, mainly late in the day - Est. precipitation: 0.16"
• THURSDAY - High: 84° - Humid; a couple of showers in the morning followed by a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon - Est. precipitation: 0.18"

SESSION #2
• FRIDAY - High: 87° - Some sun with thunderstorms possible; warm and humid - Est. precipitation: 0.00"
• SATURDAY - High: 87° - Partly sunny and warm with a couple of showers and thunderstorms possible - Est. precipitation: 0.00"
• SUNDAY - High: 86° - Mostly sunny and warm with a thunderstorm possible - Est. precipitation: 0.00"
__________

The current forecast calls for an estimated precipitation total of less than a ½-inch of rain over the three days of the 1st Session, generally evenly divided, and none over the 2nd Session ... That is not the sort of projection that would cause us to abandon our standard philosophy and procedure that WE DO NOT CANCEL OR POSTPONE AN EVENT BASED ON A FORECAST ... All "PLAY/NO-PLAY" decisions will be made AT THE FIELDS OF PLAY AT GAME TIME unless otherwise announced in advance ... This is NOT such an announcement ... Travel safely and good luck everyone!

Just Joe, did not see your post before I started another. I agree with you, and chollis 100%. Should not wait until the last minute to make this call. We are coming from Texas, and will need to cancel by no later than this afternoon in order to keep from losing refunds on air, auto rentals, and hotels, and condo. rentals. We need a call!

We have ... We are monitoring the situation from multiple weather sources, but allow us to reiterate: WE DO NOT CANCEL OR POSTPONE AN EVENT BASED ON A FORECAST ... Obviously, if the forecast was a doomsday "seek higher ground imnmediately" type, that would be different ... But this isn't it, by a long shot ... If you are insistent on a "right-now-call", we're happy to provide it and here it is: The official current status of the 2020 Winter National's is a "GO" ... We would, of course, advise you immediately if that status were to change ... Thanks!

Thank you for addressing this. We have some guys that are traveling the furthest dropping out due to weather concerns. We are trying to hold it together.

Thanks, Curt ... We're doing the same (trying to hold it together!) and are actually fairly optimistic ... Our Ft. Myers local talent who runs the Parks is confident we'll be fine, and we believe her ... If we get a little hiccup, we're also fairly skilled at schedule revisions on the fly to get things in ... But the most positive circumstance here is that the forecast gets better with each subsequent day rather than the converse ... We'll be fine in my view ...
P.S. - Really nice to see the Hollis franchise name back in the mix! ... Play safely and good luck! ...

With the SSUSA staff located in Ca., there is no way they can relate to the tropical storm/Hurricane events.Just as those of us on the east coast can't relate to earthquakes or mud slides. With the State of Emergency for Lee County as well as 8 other counties in Florida and the school closings and the 5-8 inches of rain between now and Tuesday. PLaying ball will be extremely difficult. Since these are NOT Artificial Turf fields, be prepared to bring extra cleats and multiple socks as the outfields will be under water. As the storm skirts the coast, the rain bands which will cover the entire state will bring lots of water each day. The winds from the storm will make pitching, well.. difficult. A LOT of walks if we play. The SSUSA staff should consider moving this tournament either to the east coast or postpone it to another week.

Latest update showing CAT1 hurricane off the coast on Wednesday 1pm. I would think the municipalities would suspend recreational activities.

After serious thought, Berkley Home Remodeling 65AAA has decided to drop out of the Ft Myers Tournament.

We feel it was just to risky to fly into Ft Myers.

Good Luck to all who make it down to Florida - Stay Safe!

You guys have become your own worst enemy. The same people clamoring for SSUSA to cancel or move the tournament are the ones who'd be most upset if changes were made and the conditions wound up being good. Relax, enjoy, and make the most of whatever comes your way. Tim
