As an outfielder, I agree with the above, the outfields were/are Shadow Rock bad. Weeds and bumpy. Standing water in Right Center fence line on Field 5 Sunday for some reason.

Out of the 43 teams in the tourney, 26 were in the 50s, 55s, and 60s and the breakdown by state was:
Missouri 9
Kansas 4 (all close to the KC area)
Oklahoma 4
Nebraska 3
Texas 2
Arkansas 2 (host state)
Wisconsin 1
Illinois 1

Scrap Iron teams come frequently to the KC area for tournaments. With Rogers, too long of a drive and no way to fly without your own plane.

Well run tournament in Rogers, Arkansas this year. The weather cooperated which was unexpected (thought it would be hot and humid, it wasn't so bad). Question for SSUSA, how many more years will it be in Rogers? Only 43 teams in the entire tourney, as the 55 division had only 3 Major (St. Louis, Wisconsin, Texas) and 3 AAA (Omaha, KC, Tulsa) teams, and 50s AAA (Lincoln, St. Louis, KC) had only 3. I understand how the politics of site selection work, but hopefully the MWC comes further north back to the Kansas City/Columbia area to draw more teams in the next contract go-round.
That said, again hats off to people who put the tourney on this past weekend.

Discussion: ASA Bats Not Allowed in Vegas

Player from Oxnard was called out and ejected in our 55M game last week for using the ASA Miken Freak (the same one half our Senior league is using on Mon-Wed). Umpire said (and it was confirmed) that all managers were told of this at the manager's meeting. Don't know why the bat is "illegal" however...

Back to the topic...

The facilities at the Rocky Mountain tourney are some of the best in the country. We played at both the A and B complexes and you wouldnít know the difference. Infieldís were good, and yes, the grass was a little long in the outfield (and as an outfielder it did make you sprint to the ball...sore legs after each day), but that grass was thick and full and had very few weeds. Canít say that about the facilities at the Midwest in Rogers, Arkansas (almost Shadow Rock grass fields quality).
Pros of Aurora Sports Complex: Location, fields, room for BP, restrooms, concessions, weather, 320í fences, thin air, dugouts, etc.
Pro/Con: Heavily patrolled parking lot..lol
Always a good time in Aurora. How only three 55M teams participated was disappointing however. This tourney should be on many more teamís travel list.

Yes Nancy Allen, same game. I play for a different team and we were next up on that field and watched the whole debacle. Yes, it was about 20 minutes and rather strange. We all couldn't believe they flipped a coin. I think it was a fail on the part of the umpire and tourney directors with that situation. But, alas, learning moment (I Hope).

Well, a situation just like this occurred at the Rocky Mountain Championships in the 60 Major game this weekend. The visitorís scorekeeper was correct and had a meticulous score book (we were talking to her while the brain trust was deciding to flip a coin).
As fate would have it, the next batter grounded out and the game went to extras. And yes, the player did run twice and his team won in the extra inning.

We played there as well. The 10 run rule in the 5th inning was bs. Didnít know of the no courtesy until it happened. The rules changed after pool play to a 1-1 w/courtesy. Why the change??? All and all a jacked up tourney from a rules standpoint. No consitency when you get compared to other teams. We wonít be back to this tournament.

We played in Shawnee this weekend and have no complaints. Great game time schedules, 9 teams in our bracket, and other than the wind, again, no complaints. I care less about discounts on bats or other items. It's about getting playing time (6 games) and competing. If you want a participation medal, play YMCA ball.

Discussion: TEAR OF THE ADDUCTOR , ALSO KNOW AS ATHLETIC PUBALGIA

I had this surgery (out patient) in Dec 2013 in Omaha. Dr. Tom Webb, vascular surgeon. Common term for athletic pubalgia is "sports hernia". Ab muscles detached from pubic bone. The adductor is a secondary part of the surgery. Some doctors will "release the adductor" (cut it) so it isn't in play. Not always done as a routine. My doc didn't have to do it. He sewed the muscles back and used mesh. I have had no complications.
Recovery from the sports hernia surgery was quick. Back to full duty in about 4 weeks for me. Down for the count really for just a few days.
Best thing I did was get this done. Physical therapy didn't help. I would rest and take it easy, no issues, then bam, hurt like a mother$%, especially when running the bases.
One thing to note, it will probably be mis-diagnosed. My GP said I had an abdominal strain, I knew different from basic research and found Dr. Webb after contacting the University of Nebraska football trainers for guidance.
I don't know what area you're in, but call to any major D-1 football program training department and see who they can refer you to.
Insurance covered it for me (Blue Cross). It was billed as a hernia.
Dr. Meyer in Philly is the man, however, if you're not from that area that could be an i$$ue.
