June 20 Orlando Lopez Men's 65 11 posts | Cataract Surgery I had cataract surgery in both eyes and I am so glad I did it My ophthalmologist suggested the Monofocal IOL lenses which only correct far away vision. He did not recommend the multi-focal for playing sports. I still have to use reading glasses but my distance vision improved to 20/20. I would recommend you also have the Humphrey Topography done which maps the eyes and helps in selecting the best lens strength for your eyes (it only cost me extra $45.00) Good luck and you will be glad you did it. |
June 21 BruceinGa Men's 70 3246 posts | Cataract Surgery I too had cataract surgery in both eyes about 18 months ago. I opted for the lenses which only correct far away vision. I still need readers. The surgery sharpened my distance vision and I would highly recommend it! |

June 21 garyheifner 652 posts | Cataract Surgery I did the same as Bruce. Pd the xtra $ for the fancy lense in the 1st eye. Doc said just go with the one covered under medicare for the 2nd. Can now clearly see pitch while hitting and can see the ball off the bat in the outfield. Get it done. U will have to shut down for a number of weeks to allow healing. |
June 22 Curly67 Men's 70 7 posts | Cataract Surgery Had cataract surgery earlier this year, I opted for the PanOptix Lens. I went from needing glasses to read the paper one day, after the surgery, not needing any glasses to read. I would recommend the up graded lens. Can now work on projects without the need for any glasses. I also play outfield and have not any problems. I was playing two weeks after the procedure. Your brain will adjust to your new lenses. |
