You have the '60s playing at 9 pm and the 50's finishing at 4:30 pm on Saturday
Really???? I know there are no Top Gun teams playing in the 60's division, but 9 PM??? Most of us are in bed by 9... I think this is really Senior Softball abuse!!

Yep ... There is ONE game in the 60-Major+/Major Platinum division at 9:00 PM on Saturday ... The winner advances to 11:00 AM on Sunday and the loser to 9:30 AM ... Neither team is doubling back for an 8:00 AM Sunday Breakfast Special ... Oh, and that division starts mid-day at Noon on Saturday ... You also may want to take another look at the 50's, since you are wrong about them ending at 4:30 PM ... The three games at 9:00 PM Saturday (also one each 50-Major and 50-AAA) are there to eliminate the potential for three (3) "If" games at 6:30 PM on Sunday ... This a good/great schedule for fairness and balance ... Good luck!

Dave, You know I've got nothing but love for you, and 99% of the time you get it correct, but this time I'd say you got it wrong!

You should avoid at all cost scheduling 60's plus players to play at night, it's really a safety issue with the outfielders...BLD lights aren't the greatest... I know you take into account other factors when putting out the schedule, but when we see the younger guys playing all or most of their games in daylight, well??? Then the #1 seed has a 5-hour break, I think those are even worst, but that's just my opinion!!!

Thanks for a Dave reply!

D² About this time a year ago you wrote.... "My personal preference is to strive to minimize "equalizers" whenever possible rather than try to force staying in the same age group, so long as the age group straddle is only "one click" ... Putting a 55-Major in with the 50-AAA's (both R/I=7) is rarely an issue ... In any event, my preference is to play "straight up" when possible ...

What happened in Cat City? Could/should 55/60's with R/I=6's played amongst themselves and the R/I=7's played amongst themselves as well?

Just trying to understand.

No worries, Ron! ... I ALWAYS enjoy hearing from you (even when you're chompin' on me a bit!) ... This one was a balancing act on a number of fronts just because of the high games demand load, so there were some difficult choices to make ... I'm reluctant to put 6:30 PM Sunday evening "If" games in play to make guys drive home that late in the weekend ... That would have eliminated the three 9:00 PM games, but realistically, it's likely to be dark for the Saturday 7:30 PM games, too ... But I'm happy for Top Gun to have a nice string going of fully populated tournaments ... That tells me they're doing things right and the teams are noticing ... Play and BE safe, my friend, and good luck! ...

H² ... In a larger population of seeding pools, that R/I segregation would be the goal ... In this one, we have three sets of three-team pods (50-Major, 55-Major and 60-Major+) ... Grouping them strictly on R/I numbers would have created too many "orphans" ... A 50-AAA/55-Major group combo would have left the 50-Major on their own, and they would have only been able to play each other in a 1 v. 2, 2 v. 3, 3 v. 1 RR into a DE-3 ... I want them to play more than only two other teams on multiple occasions in the event ...

The same result would have occurred if we merged 55-AAA/60-Major, with the 60-Major+ in a threesome similarly situated as the 50-Major ... And in that group, the 60-Major+/Major teams suggested/consented to a full 5-team mix in order to maximize the number of potential different opponents ... I avoided putting all ten R/I=7 teams in one group because [1] ten-year age straddles seldom work out fairly and [2] two days and a 10-team-DE is too tight for the games inventory (in a realm where some concerns about evening/night play have already been expressed) ...

While I completely grasp the concept of "orphans" and playing multiple teams, etc. but would another "alternative" have been, leaving everything as you have currently designed, but placing the (2) 60M with the (5) 55AAA's both R/I=6 in a 7 team group(pod) and placing the (3) 60M+ and (3) 55M both R/I=7 in a 6 team group (pod). The other groupings remain unchanged.

This is in no means intended as a criticism, just an observation from a guy that has waaaaaaaaay toooooooo much time on his hands !!

No amount of money could get me to do what you do... And I mean that with true sincerity.
