Safety Issue
Why is a pitcher (or any other player) who is all armored up with catchers gear, allowed to bat and run the bases wearing the gear? Isn't it a hazard to the defense when this player may come sliding into a base? I think there should be a rule against it.

I have only seen that a few times and then it was only the shin guards (I take mine off when I hit)
I really don't see an issue with it.
If you start to make a rule against it, then you would have to make runners NOT wear helmets if they want to (have seen that more than the shin guards)
Just my opinion, it doesn't happen enough to make a rule against it

I see your point. In my opinion I think soccer shin guards may be ok. But full catchers guards should not be allowed.

I know a pitcher in young guys ball that does this and slides into bases purposely trying to take out fielders and has. It is not a good idea to allow base runners to wear these.
