Posted | Discussion |
March 6 nofear 13 posts | SSUSA, if I am wrong, correct me. Didn't you have 70's listed at playing in Mesquite at Hunter Park last week on your field assignments page? I will go back and check to make sure of your posting. There are a lot of very upset people if now they are playing at the Canyons in St. George, UT. The Canyons are a beautiful complex, that is not the issue. The issue is people would have made their reservations in St.George had they known this change when you posted field assignments over a week ago!! Please explain. If I am wrong, I apologize. |

March 7 curveball Men's 65 705 posts | nofear You are correct but you only read part of the post, it said TENTATIVE. Please note that TENTATIVE means they are NOT FINAL and are SUBJECT TO CHANGE If read entirely, you should have no gripe. I'm sure you'll end up with better game situations in St. George than you would have gotten in Mesquite (scheduled at night or on the baseball fields). You know all the fields are nicer for sure. |
March 7 DaveDowell Men's 70 4415 posts | nofear ... While you are not technically "wrong", you seem to have disregarded a fundamental component of every post we made for this event, specifically the definition of the word "TENTATIVE" ... As background, the players and managers start very early asking (demanding?) to know where they will be playing, weeks before the entry deadlines ... You anticipate certainty from us when there is no accurate data to support that level of confidence ... Ten days before this entry deadline, we had 39 teams officially entered ... In those last 10 days, we received an additional 74 entries, which is 65% of the total ... We occasionally have to make field assignment changes to balance games demand across all venues rather than having you play at 6:30 or 8:00 PM while fields are open at other facilities ... We also believe that many folks who look at these posts go straight to their age/division and then click right out and are done with it ... Those who actually read the entire post, including the disclaimer/fine print, end up better informed ... You will likely notice a common "TENTATIVE" theme in each of our posts for the Spring World's when they are all in one place ... Good luck in the tournament! ... __________ 02/27/2018 • The following are the TENTATIVE Field Assignments for the 2018 SSUSA Spring World Championships in Mesquite, NV, and St. George, UT ... Please note that TENTATIVE means they are NOT FINAL and are SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Final Field Assignments will be released simultaneous with the publication of the DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets shortly ... 03/03/2018 • REVISED TENTATIVE Field Assignments for the 2018 SSUSA Spring World Championships in Mesquite, NV, and St. George, UT ... REMINDER: TENTATIVE means they are NOT FINAL and are SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Final Field Assignments will be released simultaneous with the publication of the DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets shortly ... 03/06/2018 • DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets for the SSUSA's Spring World Championships in Mesquite, NV, and St. George, UT, have been posted and are available from the links below and on the event's Tournament page ... As always, these DRAFT schedules are TENTATIVE, are subject to change and become final ONLY when released as "OFFICIAL" at the Manager's meeting before play commences ... |
March 7 nofear 13 posts | Thank you, Dave. I realized that the word TENTATIVE is in the post always. It's to bad that teams wait until the last minute to schedule going to a tournament. I am not a person that likes to schedule last minute changes, however, I do understand where you are coming from. I will have to explain that to my team that made all their reservations in Mesquite. Can you give the directions one more time on the back way drive to the Canyons from Mesquite? |
March 7 DaveDowell Men's 70 4415 posts | Thanks nofear ... The primary "back way" route is via "Old Highway 91" ... Here's the short version, but Google Directions using start point "A" as The Canyons Complex to destination point "B" as the CasaBlanca Hotel in Mesquite will give you something like: West on W 2000 N (3± mi.) to Pioneer Parkway then a right onto E. Old Highway 91 ... That becomes Co. Highway 91 in Arizona, and the total run is about 30± miles until you plug into I-5 South to Mesquite (10± miles) ... It's a beautiful and relaxing drive and I take it every time when working at The Canyons ... I also stay in Mesquite every time, too! |
March 7 nofear 13 posts | Thank you, Dave. I appreciate your quick response. You do a great job!! |
March 7 TimMcElroy 982 posts | While Hunter & Pioneer Park are pretty convenient to Mesquite hotels, I would gladly take the drive to and from the Canyons complex in St. George. Heck, with the time difference working in your favor on the return trip, you could be the 1st man at the buffet- or gaming tables- or hot tub. |
March 7 Brock Men's 80 89 posts | No Fear, if your guys want to move to a hotel In St. George, there are a number of places that you can still get a room for $50 to $75 per night. Check Hotels.com or Choice Hotels.com websites. A number of these hotels, especially at Choice Hotels.com have a full hot breakfast also. You still have plenty of time to cancel rooms in Mesquite and get your first night's payment back. They won't be as cheap as the Virgin River but will be as cheap or cheaper than the Casa Blanca. |
