Oct. 7 softball4b Men's 70 1249 posts | Thank you SSUSA for a putting on such a great event. The logistics associated with such an event is almost unimaginable. We enjoyed the outstanding views afforded at The BigHorn Park. Next time put us somewhere that we will not be distracted by the sheep or Lake Mead because I am sure that was the reason we were having a hard time catching the ball. Thank you Terry and Fran for the Hall of Fame Ceremony at BLD. My family was extremely impressed with the setting. Being from Arkansas they were happy with the indoor toilets. Seriously though SSUSA is a class act and thank you for all of your efforts. Mike Adair GSC 60 M+ |
Oct. 7 Fabe Men's 65 457 posts | Totally agree....not an easy task running large tourneys! Familystones Hawaii (50s) enjoyed the games n memories. Aloha, Fabe |
Oct. 7 hitman Men's 70 339 posts | Logistics were good but only having one umpire in double elimination games just isn't acceptable, especially when he doesn't know the rules and then cops an attitude when we tried to ask questions. Called batter out for stepping on line, not out of box, doesn't know it's the location of the ball for fair and foul not the fielder, doesn't call batter out for retreating from first, and totally misses call when 3rd base coach all but tackles runner to stop him from scoring. Surely it's bad enough to only have one umpire but totally incompetent just isn't acceptable, they were all easy calls. I know we are not the Majors with instant replay but he didn't need instant replay, just the knowledge to make the correct calls. Then when we had him the second time it was all about him and not the game, fortunately he had a good partner the second time. |
Oct. 8 neck10 714 posts | need to start tourney a day earlier so teams would only have to play four games a day in losers bracket!!!!!!!!!!!! play pre lim,s on Thursday start tourney on Friday!!!!!!!!!! |
Oct. 8 Duke Men's 65 908 posts | neck10, I agree with you. We do need to make this tournament a 4 day event as in the past. Too many games to be played in the losers bracket, not to mention the winners bracket. Not much time to enjoy the city and get some rest. I would probably include the Reno tournament in this too. Other than that, this was an excellently run tournament, especially with this many teams. Andy Smith, R & R Strokers |
Oct. 8 softball4b Men's 70 1249 posts | We do not need a 4 day bracket. This is the Worlds, win or go home. That is the price you pay when your brackets exceed a certain number of teams. Great you get to play new teams, but bad if they beat you. That may sound harsh, but if you do not go into the loser bracket then you benefit. That is the whole point of winning the championship instead of receiving a participation award. If anything some of the lessor tournaments should be two day events instead of three. |
