Discussion: Avoiding a tag

Runners are on 1st & 2nd, no one out.

The shortstop moves up defensively to 'cut off' the runner to 3rd and try for a quick double play.

I am on 2nd and as soon as the ball is hit, I take a deep trajectory as if I am going to be scoring on a ball to the outfield. The shortstop fields the ball, but I am well out of his reach, although I did not change my trajectory to avoid the tag since he had not fielded the ball yet.

Out of the baseline or play on?

What are the dimensions of the strike zone mat? I can't seem to locate it anywhere.

Discussion: Sunday night senior league - Austin, TX

Always looking to add players to our Senior League (50+) which plays on Sunday nights in Austin, TX. All skill levels welcome. About half the guys play tournament ball. We have 8 teams and players get assigned or drafted annually. Fun league, good group of guys. If interested, call Scott Sovereen at 512.751.1981 or email me at sovereen@verizon.net.

probably a coin flip between the pitcher and second baseman. I would say that the second baseman was probably the closest using a tape measure and he was technically well behind the baseline.

Actually had this happen last week. The only question was whether it is a live or dead ball. Clearly the runner is safe since he was in contact with the base. We played it as a live ball, advancing at your own risk. Did we get it right?
