Dec. 26, 2018 nickols | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Knee replacement vs. Stem Cell Therapy Age 60, sports Dr tells me-- stage 4 osteo arthritis total loss of all cartilage. Only remedy is TKR. Dairy/crop farmer. researched stem cell treatment for 2 yrs. Now age 62, had stem cell treatment both knees 10 months ago. At least 50% improvement. So what went on in my knees? No cartilage to begin with, means no cartilage regrowth. Bone spurs are healed and environment inside knees is now excellent. Do not know how long this will last. Dr hopes 10 yrs. I have a couple things going for me-- Top 3 or maybe top patient Dr has seen for bone hardness. And also top 3 or top patient for pain tolerance. Did stem cells from my own bone marrow. Not to bad. Once to the bone(pelvis) you don't feel a thing. Because my pelvis was so hard he had a hard time getting through. You just feel your body rocking with the force of trying to get through the bone. 2 wks prior Dr injected both knees with with something(can't remember what it was) to "wake up the knees and tell my body healing needs to get going. then 2 wks later did stem cells and PRP(plasma rich protein) that visit. Also laser treatments at the end that day. Went back twice for laser at 2 wks and 4 wks. At 6 wks he was happy with my progress, so he did another PRP on both. Have not seen him since. 3 sources of stem cells-Bone marrow, fat cells and umbilical cord. My Dr does bone marrow for bone/joints, and fat for spine or nerve damage. Does not do umbilical cord because he's tested many many samples and all cells are dead by the time you get them. |
Dec. 2, 2015 nickols | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Played in a league last winter where screen was mandatory. But screen was set up half way in-between home plate and pitching rubber, so it was hard to see the plate when pitching and hard to see the ball coming in when batting. Would much rather pitch from side of screen, then move to get behind it. I suggest using a "pitch safe" screen, and be able to move it to where ever the pitcher wants it. Dead ball if it hits the screen. |
