March 7, 2016 19 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: face masks Can someone please tell me the real reason why this rule exists? I suppose it could be that someone believes grown men are incapable of making decisions for themselves that only affect them and NO one outside of their families. But I have a hunch there is more to it than that. |
March 6, 2016 19 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: The new sun rule 6.16 Why does senior softball insist on making a mockery of a game we all grew up playing just fine for 40 years without such silly rules? |
Feb. 19, 2016 19 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a team Jim is an excellent player, and an ever better guy. |
Dec. 24, 2015 19 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: West Michigan Webbie, did you attend Pioneer or Huron? |
Dec. 24, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS SAH, If all your pitcher is doing is "serving it up", find a new pitcher! You really want safety, reduce the bats. Anything else is just empty lip service. |
Dec. 1, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Gentlemen, "If safety of the players is truly an issue" then the bats would be adjusted to reflect their use by the oldest, slowest group still playing the game. Any short of that is just window dressing. |
Nov. 27, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Why have the mat? Webbie, just wondering what you thought was imperfect about the game in the 70s and 80s. And players have ALWAYS made more mistakes during the course of a game than the umpires they so often want to blame. |
Nov. 27, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS So everyone is saying if the rubber is removed than the screen can be too? |
Nov. 25, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Why have the mat? So no one minds that guys 5'6" have the same strike zone as someone 6'8"? Just not the way the game was meant to be. A lot of criticism of umps, but almost always they make far less "errors" than the players who criticize them. |
Nov. 24, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Webbie, I believe you but personally don't know of anyone who has ever sued anyone over an injury. I guess it happens, I just haven't seen it myself. |
Nov. 23, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS The little I have played with one I have lost more opportunities for potential double plays by having balls hit the screen. Fielding for the pitcher is just NOT the same with it. |
Nov. 20, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Fred, or if he is a pitcher he wants to be able to do what everyone else on the field gets to do. Play defense. How many guys only want to be able to play 1/2 the game? |
Nov. 9, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Ho, one reason no one is complaining now is because those who don't like the screen stopped playing. But you are 100% correct about the bats. Leagues are being ruined with screens, why tournaments too? Grandfathers really can't live without souped-up bats? :( |
Nov. 8, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS There are guys who actually sue someone/anyone after getting hit when (a) they know the risk, (b) they know the crazy bats that are being used, (c) they know the risk, and (d) they missed the ball? |
Nov. 6, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS cheezhed, how about if sensible bats are brought into the "SENIOR" game? |
Nov. 6, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Use Ladies ball So if I understand the original post, because guys have gotten older their hands and gloves have also gotten smaller and the 12" ball does not fit in them anymore???????? |
Nov. 6, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS The concern could be greatly reduced by using sensible bats for the older, slower ages. |
Nov. 6, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS Why do non-pitchers always think pitchers don't want to be able to play defense? |
Nov. 6, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Why have the mat? joel, no disrespect intended but that might be the worst take I have ever read on here. Or anywhere. Bruce, you are 100% correct. |
Nov. 3, 2015 19 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Why have the mat? It also results in a one size fits all strike zone, where batters 5'6" and 6'8" have the same size zone. Definitely NOT what the "founding fathers" had in mind. Wayne, ask the kids. They play without one and "survive" quite well. |
