Corn

I wish you the best. I had the same injury 20 years ago. I spent the night in the hospital, and worked with an Ophthalmologist for a year. Here is what the final was:

1. Doc watched for detached retina or damage to cornea, and I was lucky that that did not happen.
2. My pupil is frozen open, and to date, I still get the same answer that there is nothing they can do to fix that. What that means is that I am way more sensitive to light, so anytime I am outside, I am wearing sunglasses. My vision is still 20/20, but the injured eye is a little foggy.. but I can still play the outfield.
3. Because of an eye injury, we are more susceptible to cataracts and possibly glaucoma. So I get eye exams every year.

Please share if you learn something different from your Eye Doc. While its a fun conversation starter of "why do you have two different color eyes?" I would love to fix it.

Best of luck

Bill

Hope every one is having happy and safe holiday season.

California Coast Plumbers is looking for a couple of players to help us out at TOC in Florida. I know its short notice but a couple of players have bowed out in the past week.

We are 55AAA team. Outfielders would be preferable.

Should be from California, Arizona, Oregon or Nevada.

Please email me at hc50ssoftball@gmail.com

Happy New Year

Yes, for the most part that works, except for the tournaments where the weekend timing flip flops with age brackets.

Staff

Thank you, we are aware of that. but we are looking for a little help, at least on the majors ( Reno, Spring Worlds, Worlds, LVSSA Championships) and World Masters so that those who HAVE to request time off by 11/30/19 other wise they will not be able to play..

Dont need full details, just date place holders so that they can make their requests for vacation time.

They have a set set of fields that are available to SSUSA to use. Fields that are used depend on number of teams that enter.

But the other thing they do, is to rotate the divisions around so that one division is not always getting the good fields and others are getting the less desirable fields.

Sorry there cant be more of an answer to your question, but their really isnt a solid answer..

My suggestion, if you want to see the fields used would be to go through Tournaments tab and look at 50's schedule for each year and see where they were assigned...

On this line, I just have a question, and I am sure its a park availability issue as dictated by the various municipalities...

But if Lorenzi and Russel Road are two field complexes, why use the Bighorn Fields in Boulder City?

Like I said, just curious, and I am sure there is a logical reason.

I figured on the schedule, but wanted to ask. I have a few guys on the team that are in union shops and they have to put their time off requests for 2018 in by early January.

While I understand the field issues in Vegas, I believe that there are going to be issues with teams having problems getting their players to commit to to taking 3 to 4 days off work for Worlds.

Play begins Thursday.. Managers meeting on Wednesday... and East Coast people leaving monday... the equates to 4 days off.

It is FAR cheaper to stay in Mesquite. There is drinking in St George. There are a couple sports bars with in 5 miles of Canyons Commplex.

The hotels in St George are typically over $100 per night

Best of luck.

Staff and Mr. Dowell,

Thank you for getting the schedule out. A question and complaint/issue...

Question: Is there still a So Cal Championship? Just waiting on location or has it been discontinued?

Complaint: Before deciding to make 50s and 55s a 4 day tournament, maybe a player poll should be taken. As a manager, I KNOW right now, I am going to have issues fielding a team on Thursday. All of my guys work and have families and pulling 2 to 3 days of vacation from their families for the tournament is going to force players to make a choice of keeping family happy or skipping worlds. My players have no problem playing late into the night on Friday and Saturday. Most of my guys, and I am fairly certain that this runs across the board arrive Thursday night or Friday morning depending on our start time. Plus the added cost of an additional hotel night.

This will leave many teams struggling with the decision of putting a less than competitive team on the field Thursday or not coming to worlds at all.
