Discussion: Rock at the R.A.C. Lacey WA

Our team (Dead Sailors 50AAA) played this past weekend at the Rock at the RAC. I just wanted to say game times were posted early in week, both complexes were in fantastic shape, including the grass and dirt at Rainier Vista. Umpiring was really good in all our games, tournament director was very approachable and friendly, game results were posted promptly. I also wanted to add that the teams we played from Idaho and Canada were totally classy teams, great games, and close scores. Fantastic sportsmanship was displayed by all teams we played. If you want to play in a well run tournament with great complexes, come play this event next year. Thanks to everyone involved with this tournament.Oh, one piece of advice (not criticism), give shirts to the winning team, The Rock at the RAC is a great name and would look cool on a shirt. Not sure who from senior softball answered this, but the last point (of the 3) is truly hilarious. I have read that 3 times and it still cracks me up. Well done. It hurts cuz its true....

Discussion: Worlds in Vegas

I just returned from AAA 50's Worlds in Vegas, overall a very good experience. I think for the most part SSUSA does a good job. I do have one complaint that I would like to get opinions on. I fully understand that the tourney directors have no control over the weather so no one needs to waste their time telling me that. I also understand the need to cut games to one hour in an attempt to get back on schedule. Our situation was this, our 5th game was scheduled for 430pm Saturday afternoon against AZ Dawgs (good team, good guys) the game started (as scheduled) at 430, however it was still played as a 1 hour, 5 inning game. We lost by 3 or 4 runs and that was the end of our tourney. For what we paid to play in this event, not even looking at travel from Washington, why was a game that was played at the right time cut off at 1 hour? When I asked the director about this, his response was 'of the 300 some games he had to schedule, that might have been his one mistake'. I really don't think that is an acceptable answer. When the event got back on schedule full games should have been played. I don't think SSUSA understands that ASA and USSSA are making serious pushes to get a piece of the pie that we spend on these events as players and teams. SSUSA is a fantastic organization but really needs to listen to their customers, don't make everyone go to Lorenzei to find out when their next game is, make sure fields are in playable condition, don't limit games to one hour when you are on schedule. These don't seem like unreasonable requests.

On another post on this board someone said that Aftershock still got the second place trophy. Why would that be?

Discussion: North West Championships

Dead Sailors out of Olympia won the 50AAA by beating Michaels in the 'if' game.Great games, excellent competition, good umpiring. Michaels, 3 great games with you guys, all 3 could have gone either way. Tex, shave that mustache you look like a member of Village People!! Always good to see the Alaska Kings, totally classy team. They come a long ways to support this event. One suggestion, the Jim Sherman event is a big deal to us out here in the west, any team fortunate enough to win this event should get jackets that say 'Jim Sherman Memorial', not just generic SSUSA coats. SSUSA is a great organization, dont make the same mistakes that USSSA is making with their prize packages. Jim Perry...Dead Sailors....NEVER DEAD!!
