Rock at the R.A.C. Lacey WA
Our team (Dead Sailors 50AAA) played this past weekend at the Rock at the RAC. I just wanted to say game times were posted early in week, both complexes were in fantastic shape, including the grass and dirt at Rainier Vista. Umpiring was really good in all our games, tournament director was very approachable and friendly, game results were posted promptly. I also wanted to add that the teams we played from Idaho and Canada were totally classy teams, great games, and close scores. Fantastic sportsmanship was displayed by all teams we played. If you want to play in a well run tournament with great complexes, come play this event next year. Thanks to everyone involved with this tournament.Oh, one piece of advice (not criticism), give shirts to the winning team, The Rock at the RAC is a great name and would look cool on a shirt. Fields were excellent. Brackets were messed up. We, Charlies, ended up playing four games, first against one of the teams from Canada, then three in a row against the team from Idaho! We hung with 'em twice and they killed us once. With seven teams in our group seems like the bracket would have been set up so this wouldn't happen. Kind of sucked having an eight AM game against a team that just beat you twice Saturday, then losing and having to head home at 9:15 AM on Sunday.

Did you guys win it Jim? If not do you know who ended up 1,2,3?

We went 3-0 Saturday (played Idaho twice and Credicor), I did not play Sunday due to a family commitment but the guys went 2-0 against Calgary and Idaho again (I think). It was pretty cool getting to play different teams, not the usual Premier, Calhouns, Kitsap etc. But I am tired of those Idaho guys :) Good guys, good team. I hear what you're saying about having to play same team over and over. Something to keep in mind for next year. I did like that we had 7 50 AAAs in our bracket. Hell, we only had 11 in Sacramento.

I play with KDEflyers on the Charlie's Bar & Grill team and must say the fields (both complexes) were great to play on and the weather (other than the smoke) was great. Having to play the same team 3 times (not just three times, but THREE times in a row) is just not right when there are 7 teams in the bracket. We played Northern Idaho three of the four games we played, and not only are they a very good team but a great bunch of guys! I guess there was an error in the bracketing that should've been corrected and it would have eliminated this scheduling "quirk". Congrats to the Dead Sailors and to all the others who played in Lacey! By the way, nice bombs KDE!

My apologies regarding the bracket breakdown. Game #4 & #5 Moody Blues Division were switched in my rush to schedule which led to the repeat opponents for a number of teams. By the time I was aware it was too late to do anything about it.

Looking back it's hard to imagine we pulled this one off without too many big challenges. A total of 34 teams played a minimum 4 games and we never really got behind. That shows great cooperation from the teams and efficiency from the umpires.

Ron Grassi did a fantastic job over at Rainier Vista and we managed to move teams back and forth between the two parks without issue.

Road to Las Vegas deadline is coming up Friday. Get your entries mailed soon or miss this final tune-up for the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships only a month away!

Great tournament Shane and crew. SSUSA should move NW Championships back to the RAC.
