Dennis Johnson Named SSUSA Clubs and Leagues Michigan Director

Jan. 1, 2020

Dennis Johnson

As part of its Clubs and Leagues Program, Senior Softball-USA (SSUSA) has named Dennis Johnson as the Michigan State Director in the Great Lakes Region.

Johnson is no stranger to SSUSA, having served as the Minnesota State Director from 2007-2011. He was also the principle organizational founder, general manager, team manager, and player for the MN Lumberjacks. The Lumberjacks currently have teams in the 50s, 55s, 60s, 65s, and 70s age divisions.

“I’d like to thank SSUSA for their trust and confidence in me,” said Johnson.  “I am eager and looking forward to working with SSUSA again and promoting SSUSA programs here in Michigan.”

“An immediate area of interest is the pursuit for establishing a Club and League Program for the Portage/Kalamazoo area, then other areas throughout Michigan.  For next winter, I look to take steps to determine interest for having an indoor dome tournament season for SW Western and Eastern Michigan locations along the I-94 corridor.”

Currently residing in Battle Creek, MI, with his wife Tena of 51 years, Johnson is a United States Air Force Vietnam veteran (1968-1972), having served duty in Thailand. In his professional career, Johnson has served as a Field Investigator for the U.S. Department of Equal Employment Opportunities, is a Department of Veterans Affairs retiree, a Program Systems Analyst, and a former National Cemetery Administrator.

Dennis Johnson can be contacted by phone: (218) 821-0577, or email: djlumberjack1@gmail.com
