I’m looking for a location to snowbird next year, where I can play softball. The issue is I can’t commit for a long period of time. The first year would probably only be for a month. If we like it, the following years would be for 3 to 4 months, i.e. January through March. Would like to find a place where I could play on a team or at least find pickup games a couple times a week? If it matters I’m 58 years old. Thanks.

You are not eligible for a "snowbird" exemption unless you live and stay in the secondary state for a period of three consecutive months ... When you meet that criteria, you may apply for a "snowbird" player card that will allow you to play in your home state and it's bordering states AND the "snowbird" state, but NOT its bordering states ... The "snowbird" card is good for one season, you must be eligible each year you renew, and the card must also be renewed annually ... Should you be on two teams that go to the Eastern/Western National's and/or the SSUSA World Championships in Las Vegas, you may only play for one of those teams and you must declare which one prior to the event start ... Good luck!

You can play in the CCSS Rec League in Naples FL on the same days as the Majors and AAA. The rec league is for those who cannot commit to a 3 month schedule. Sometimes Rec players can be subs on the regular teams.

We have a senior softball group in Gulf Shores Alabama. We play pickup games twice a week year around. January through March we have a good number of snowbirds that join us.

CCSS, Collier County Senior Softball is one of the best leagues in the country. A number of their members are on National Championship Teams. There's also pickup games in the area that you can play in. Here's a link to the CCSS web page. http://www.colliercountyseniorsoftball.org/
