Ultra II Black
Any words on when these bats will be in stock? Hoping we will get it before Master in Vegas.

Rhino,
The bats are still in production and the process is taking longer than anticipated. The U2B is a totally new design and different materials compared to previous models. It's production requires significant curing and precise steps in order to produce it. Miken has put on a second shift to try and help the process along and get some bats out before Vegas if possible. If possible, small amounts will begin leaving Miken around the 25th or so. I do know the numbers will be much lower than they hoped to get out before Vegas. What they are NOT doing is speeding up things so there is a possibility of lower quality or consistency levels. They are dedicated to having the new U2 be at the top of the senior lineup. While it may be a a inconvenience for some I can assure you that this bat is worth waiting for. I will update along the way as I get more information. You can contact me if you need more information about it's availability or it's characteristics. Looking forward to the great SSUSA event in Vegas this year. It will be the first time a majority of my team will be able to go to experience Senior softballs premier event.

1. Where are the initial bats being made?

2. Based on your answer, where will the future bats be made?

3. If your answer to #2 is elsewhere, will "it's production requires significant curing and precise steps in order to produce it" when they are in mass production mode?

I really don't know how and where bats are made. This initial delay is very similar to the lightening.

Thank you.

We have been hitting one of the Miken demos (a 26 oz Max Load) and it does have a lot of good qualities. By the time we hit it there were 650 swings on it... we've put an additional 200 on it and there isn't a scratch on it.
The feel will change from model to model, depending upon what a hitter is seeking between the balanced, end loaded and more severe end loaded versions.
In speaking with Mike Kelly, of Kelly's Ultimate Sports, he's been testing two production models, the balanced and Big Cat (1 oz end load). He said that both opened up at 140 swings or so...
You can view them yourselves...

As far as pop goes... the demo we used hit about as well as my other bats. The feel and durability would be the new Miken's most salient points, IMO. Recognize that we only hit one version... and it is perhaps an ounce too light for me.
I am not being compensated in any way, shape or form for my comments.

Miken's bats are manufactured in Caldonia, Minnesota. All the Miken softball, baseball, fastpitch bats are made right there.

Thank You

Rhino,
Big Mike is correct...all Miken bats are made in the USA which is another reason that I personally use them. They are in mass production mode it's just the entire process takes longer than a normal composite bat. My understanding is that somewhere around September 25th, Miken will start sending out about 24 bats at a time to it's dealer network about every 3 days until the orders are caught up. It's possible we may get some a little quicker but that is the plan from a miken as I know it right now.
Thanks,

I talked to Kelly also . You are right . He said the main advantage was the longevity . Performance pretty much the same as existing Ultra`s .

If I can get the performance of the current Ultra II Big Cat and the durability has improved to that of the Dudley or better I'll be on cloud 9! Manufactured in North America means something to me too Alan.

To date the Big Cat is the best performing senior bat I've swung and I've tried a lot of bats, however, durability with the Cat has been an issue. The last 2 Big Cats I had got 320 and 85 swings Respectively which was disappointing. I have a Dudley that has over 2000 swings on it but it doesn't keep up to the performance level of the Big Cat.

Hopefully the new Ultra II Black Big Cat is the best of both worlds! I'll update with my thoughts once mine arrives and I get some swings on it...
