Dec. 7 Macbri19 Men's 50 8 posts | Hey guys, first time posting here so be gentle. Getting back to playing again after a brief break. Part of my 2 year plan is to play wherever and whenever I can here in Florida (I live in Lakeland) to get my skills out there with the hope that I may play my way onto a tournament squad when I turn 50. Can anyone offer any other wisdom on how to get to where I want to be? I have never really let myself go physically, have even run a marathon...but just missed the heck out of competitive softball. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Dec. 7 gott2play Men's 60 212 posts | Macbri19, First if all, your 2 year plan may be only a year away. I'm assuming that you'll be turning 49 during the 2015 calendar year. If that's the case, you can start playing 50's (in your location) as early as the Winter Nationals in November 2015. It's the roster qualifier for the 2016 season, so you just have to turn 50 during that year. As far as getting ready, try to find senior leagues that allow the use of senior bats and similar balls. It certainly would help get you used to how hot the equipment is that we get to use. And as Bruce says, find some bp buddies. There's nothing better than getting the swings in. All the best to you.
