Oct. 8, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player tracking rating Everything about ratings for players is always subject to approval with the home office. However, it is my understanding that you have a 2 year period of contestability. For example, if you have played most recently on a major team, you will carry that rating for 2 years. If you play AAA as one of their "playing down" players, and don't play on a major team during those 2 years, you may apply to receive a AAA rating. 2 important details here. You can't just set out a year or 2. SSUSA will add on another time period for the year(s) you didn't play. If you play in another association, the burden of proof will be on you for evidence of playing in another class. Having been through this personally, SSUSA draws a pretty hard line with this issue and in my opinion this is a good thing. It really does help with the sandbagging issue which could get very quickly get out of hand. |
Sept. 19, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking.for competitive 75 team for 2019 Will turn 74 next year(2019). Looking for a good 75 team. Rated major in all associations. First, catch or DH. Fair speed, still decent power. 714 OBP playing major plus 3 years ago. Live in the Florida panhandle. Ron, 316 655-9648, rrkemmerer@gmail.com. |
Aug. 22, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Potential 80 Years olds for World Masters Not sure about the 80s age group. The 75s are classified into 2 groups. East or west of the Mississippi. Kc would be west of the Mississippi, Michigan would be east. |
June 29, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Age The year that you turn a certain age determines your age group,no matter what the month. As an example, if you are 64 this year, next year you will turn 65. As such, you will be able to play with the 65 age group no matter the month of birth. It changes for the 70 and above age groups. For instance, 75 and above can have 5 74 year olds on their roster. |
June 12, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking 75 age group curveball, your scenario for 70 and below is correct. But my understanding of the current rules is that this changes for 75 and above. That's why I'm looking for a good competitive team east of the Mississippi for next year. At this point, not much here in the southeast for this age group. |
June 11, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking 75 age group Very interesting Birdman. I hadn't heard of that ruling. Maybe we could get SSUSA to give us some insight. I played plus ball for a team from Colorado before moving to Florida. |
June 7, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking 75 age group Ho, thanks for your important input! Coming from a TD, this is an impressive validation. Just looking for the best fit for everyone, Ron |
June 5, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking 75 age group Thanks for the response Joe. I will call you as we get towards the end of this year. |
June 4, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking 75 age group This may be a bit premature, but I will turn 74 next year so I will be eligible to play with the 75's. I'm of the understanding that I can play on all eligible teams east of the Mississippi. I am located in the Florida panhandle. Rated Major in all associations. 1st, catch and EH if necessary Decent speed, good power, 714 avg. playing Major Plus 3 years ago. 765 avg. this year in 3 tournaments. Looking forward to hearing from teams looking ahead to 2019. Looking for a competitive 75 team |
May 9, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Power fading Yes, age has a lot to do with power fading. I was losing a little bit every year past 65, but when I hit 71, it became very noticeable. My home runs were averaging around 330-320. At around 71, I noticed a big drop off. Still pump iron hard and do all the things I used to do, it's just not there like it was. I hit 2 home runs a couple of weeks ago in Valley, Alabama. However, the wind was blowing out about 20 miles an hour. If not for the wind, they probably would have been warning track at best. Very discouraging. I now just try to hit the ball on a line for average. |
April 4, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 75 age group Answers my question thoroughly. Thanks |
April 4, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 75 age group Just to be clear,is this is similar to Major Plus? You can play on any same class team, or as one of 3 out of rating players, east or west of the Mississippi, depending on the location of your home state. So as an example, if I lived in Kansas, I could play for a 75 team located in California, with class restrictions named above? |
April 4, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 75 age group I can't access the rules link, it disappears before I can click on it. So, I'll ask the question here. Is the 75 age group bound by the surrounding state rule, or can they play anywhere. |
March 29, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need advice I bought a Dudley 2016 end load with the 12'barrel because the reviews were really good. If you hit it on the screws, it had great performance. I just never could get used to the short barrel and sold it 6 months later. I'm convinced after that trial that I need the longer barrel. The Big Cats I have are starting to feel a little heavy to me on some days. That's when I would pull out the red UII. I'll look at the Kendrick Maxload. Thanks for the input |
March 28, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need advice DCPete, I have thought of that option. I was wondering however, if the newer bats would be a little hotter with the new technologies developed over the last several years. Mck, I usually get my bats from Alan, so I plan on his advice as I get a little closer. |
March 27, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need advice Yes, I have primarily been a Miken guy. However, I feel like it might be time for a change. I hear good things about the Worth as far as consistency is concerned, according to Dave Velasquez. Haven't seen much about the reloaded at this point. I appreciate your advice and it certainly will be taken into consideration. |
March 27, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need advice Finally broke my old Miken red endload this weekend. Looking for a replacement. I also have 2 Miken Big Cats which I use more often. Wanting something not as endloaded as the Cats. Narrowed my search to the Worth Wicked and the Adidas Reload. Who has hit these bats and your recommendations please. |
March 12, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need clarification Thank you for your speedy clarification on this issue. |
March 12, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need clarification Currently live in Florida and play 70 Major. I know that if you are east of the Mississippi, and play Major Plus, you cannot join a Major Plus team west of the river. My question is does that apply to the 75 age group also? |
Feb. 15, 2018 cyborg45 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Need to revamp 70 team ratings I agree. Played on a Major Plus team from Colorado in 2015. Moved to Florida that same year. Unable to find a Major Plus team or Major to play on in this state in 2016. Played in one SPA tournament at the Major level in 2016. Finally found a Major team for 2 tournaments in 2017. SSUSA was reluctant to rerate to Major for this season because I didn't play a SSUSA tournament in 2016. This is an especially bad situation here east. Not many Major or Major Plus teams as compared to west of the Mississippi. We played in Reno this year and there were 10 Major teams in Major. We had 4 at he Winter Nationals in FT. Meyers. On a positive closing, the home office finally gave me credit for the SPA tournament played in 2016 and rerated me to Major for this year. Been a "long train runnin". |
