Anyone willing to fill me in regarding senior softball opportunities?

I'm a 50+ female, haven't played in a league in a hot minute. I see there are rec and competitive leagues run out of Federal Way, WA (about 20 miles from me). Can anyone run down the basic differences here? Clue me into what sets these two apart besides the obvious.

I've played softball since childhood, coached my kids through little league, two of my kids played travel ball (one up to 18Gold and the other quit travel ball at 14U) and I'm currently a high school fastpitch assistant coach. I'd love to play again, but it isn't fun if it isn't competitive enough and it ALSO isn't fun if you are in over your head! Trying to determine where I belong. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Carla :)
