Hey FastEddie, I found a pair of tennis shoes at Papago Park after the 70s Pheonix Winter Worlds. Thought these were one of my guys. The are blackish, size 11.5 US (asics). I manage the Family 70s team. Send me an email at fredbaniecki@gmail.com.
I will be at the Top Gun BHC tourney in Jan.

Here's the correct link from above:

Derek Jeter doesn't react fast enough to catch/stop a line drive at the pitcher or for that matter 3rd/1st baseman. Senior players don't back up like they did when they were younger.

For safety sake, it doesn't make sense to use high powered batted and balls just to see some guys hit the ball 50-100 feet out of the park. Not so impressive to me. It's senior softball who are we trying to impress.

Let's bring some defense back into the game of softball.

How can SSUSA be serious about the safety of the pitcher but still use hot bats/balls (Rock)? Tell that to the player's widow...

§6.17 • PITCHERS MANDATED MINIMUM SAFETY EQUIPMENT – In response to some pitchers asserting rule compliance by wearing “goggle style” minimally protective equipment, the area of the face that must be protected by a face mask was clarified – “Pitchers (only) MUST wear a face mask that covers the area of the face from above the eyes to the lower part of the chin. All players, including pitchers, are ENCOURAGED to wear the “recommended”, but not required, additional protective equipment.” • PASSED 12‐0

Discussion: Out of the Batters Box.

Once again, you are missing the point, the front of the batter's box is short:

In the good old days, before the matt, the plate was considered a ball. A strike was determined by the ball crossing the batters shoulders to knees after it crossed the plate. If the ball hit the plate it was a ball.

When incorporating the matt, the plate became a strike. No adjustment was made to the relationship of the batter's box to the new plate (matt). This makes the batter's box 8 1/2 inches too short in front. This creates a nightmare as many batter's stepping out of the box.

If the batter's box is adjusted 8 1/2 inches forward it would eliminate most of unjustified the out of batter's box problems.

Discussion: Is it a strike if ball hits front edge of strike mat and also kicks up some dirt?

If the ball bounces up and never crosses the plate isn't that a ball? A pitched ball has to cross the plate.

I think it's the umpire's strike zone. Some umpires call it & some don't. Just like in baseball, some umpires have a high strike zone, other's have low strike zones. But it's the umpire's call either way.

Shouldn't make a difference, HIT THE BALL!

and to further complicate things:
the softball batter's box was never adjusted for the plate being a strike. In the old days, the hitting the plate was always a ball. When the rubber matts/plates came into play the plate became a strike with no adjustment (backwards) of the batter's box.

To add to this dilemma, our softball batter's box is 6ft long (little league dimenions). Major league batter's boxes are 7ft long. This is more like it for Men.
