Congrats to Senior Softball for a great tournament! Format was good, considering the amount of teams.
However...I do have some pretty serious concerns about participating in it, in Las Vegas in the future.
We played at Hollywood Park and Shadow Rock Park. The decision to move the tournament up into September did not work out well at all for players and families. Too hot! I live in AZ, and it was terribly uncomfortable for me. Can't imagine how it was for folks from cooler climates. October is the time fellas!
Shadow Rock:
No shade for players or their families. 1 dugout shaded??? Thank goodness for the trees out by the parking lot. Grass outfields were abysmal. Edge between infield and outfield was downright dangerous. Outfield grass was very uneven...could have used a good mowing, and the infield playing surface was poor. Staff that did the chalk lines left crooked lines and batter's boxes were too large and had to be scratched out by the umpire. Staff did a good job of keeping cool water in the coolers.
Hollywood Park:
Fields were a little bit better, but not by much. More shade than Shadow Rock, but still insufficient shade for the amount of people there. No concession stand was a real bother. Not at all exceptable for a tournament of this stature.

With the amount of money that this tournament brings in there's no excuse for the conditions that we experienced. And I can't wait for it to move!
