May 6, 2019 Fuzz | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Playing back to a lower class I agree with Ozzy and have been saying the same thing for years. Each team should play the home run rule for THEIR OWN classification. If 5 runs isn't adequate, increase from 5 runs to more than 5 runs. Also, there should still be a coin toss to determine home/visitor. The "upper" team might prefer to be visitor. We prefer to start off batting. To prove our commitment to this, if we play an "upper" team, we are going to stipulate that the upper team not be penalized by having to play down to our home run limit and that they receive their normal allowance of home runs. |
Aug. 17, 2017 Fuzz | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Looking for a Senior League Rule In our senior league, we allow two home runs per game. Additional "over-the-fence/untouched" home runs count as walks. The batter is awarded first base, but runners only advance if forced to do so. This lets hitters still go for home runs and also protects the pitchers and infielders from a safety standpoint. We've done this over ten years and it works well. |

Aug. 6, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Softballs for World Championships in Vegas Thanks for the info everyone. It's definitely fun to hit the Trump Rock and would be fun to hit it at the qualifiers as well as Vegas. My suggestion for the future is that we hit the same ball (whatever ball that might be) at qualifiers as we're going to hit at the World Championships. |
Aug. 4, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Softballs for World Championships in Vegas It seems like it would make sense to hit the Trump Rock at the qualifying tournaments throughout the year so teams could already be used to it at the World Championships. If the Rock costs more than the Stote, we'd understand the need to increase the tournament entry fees. |
Aug. 4, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Softballs for World Championships in Vegas I guess I'm confused as to why we would use the Trump Stote at the SSUSA Qualifying Tournaments throughout the year and then use the Trump Rock at the LVSSA/SSUSA World Championships in Las Vegas. The Trump Rock is definitely a hotter ball than the Trump Stote. Why don't we use the Trump Rock at the qualifying tournaments if that's what we're going to use in Vegas world tournament? |
July 31, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Softballs for World Championships in Vegas I heard that the Trump Rock is not going to be used in the World Championships in Las Vegas this year and that we will be using the Trump ball we're using in qualifiers. Is that correct? I agree that the same balls should be used in the qualifying tournaments during the year as are going to be used in Vegas. |
May 27, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Home run rule for handicapping I like the concept of excess home runs being walks instead of outs. We've used that for over five years in league and it works well. Plus, protects pitcher and infielders. |
May 27, 2014 Fuzz | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Home run rule for handicapping Your thoughts? When AA plays AAA or AAA plays Major, etc. the options for the lower classified team to receive runs and/or choose to have an extra defensive player make sense. However, it seems to go overboard to have the higher classified team also have to play DOWN to the lower classification home run limit. This significantly limits the higher classified team's ability to overcome the runs/extra player equalizer. We are suggesting that each team should retain the home run limit that applies to their classification. For example, the AA team would retain their one home run limit and the AAA team would retain their three home run limit. |
