Teams from Florida, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania won titles during Senior Softball-USA’s Spring National Championship/Horton & Wood Classic that played April 11-12 in Polk County, Florida.

The seven champions earned trophies, shirts and berths to the 2027 Original Tournament of Champions.

They were among 30 teams from five states and Canada that played at ballparks in Winter Haven and Lakeland during the two-day event.

Younger divisions produced some explosive scoring, including 80 runs in one men’s 50+ Major Plus game alone. The eight 40+ Platinum and 50+ Major Plus men’s teams combined to score 1,333 runs while smashing 370 homers over 14 games.

“We had great weather and the competition was outstanding,” Tournament Director Gayle Collins said. “There were a lot of one-run games.”

Results:

Men's 40+ Platinum: Top-seeded Suncoast 40s, a Major Plus team from Florida, averaged 27 runs per game while going 5-0 overall. It clipped runner-up SAW Property Solutions of Florida (photo below) 26-25 in the title game, which was the only one-run game Suncoast played. Third-seeded Hancock Power of Florida finished third in the three-team division.

Men's 50+ Major Plus: Top-seeded Victus/Yolked Up/BSM Uniforms of Florida (photo below) needed two title games to subdue third-seeded Suncoast 50s of Florida, and both games produced fireworks. Victus lost the first game 41-39 before capturing the second 43-32 — with those high-scoring finals boosting Victus’ average runs per game to 31 for the tournament. Fourth-seeded Baugh Ford/Short Porch/LeMay of Florida finished third in the five-team division.

Men's 50+ Major: Playing a best-of-three format, Jobus Tribe Twisted Guerilla Sp of Florida (photo below) swept Naturals Softball of Florida 24-19 and 20-14 to finish as 5-0 champions.

Men's 50+ AAA: Also playing a best-of-three format, Woodlawn Hitting Club 50 of Florida (photo below) swept Drouillard/Breakaway Gaming Centre of Ontario, Canada, 22-17 and 17-7. Woodland finished 3-2 overall.

Men's 55+ Major Plus: BPA Sports of Pennsylvania (photo below) needed all three games of a best-of-three format to subdue Suncoast 55s of Florida 21-28, 21-17 and 14-9. BPA finished 4-2 overall.

Men's 55+ Major: After going winless in three seeding games, fourth-seeded Florida-Onyx (photo below) topped this four-team division by going 3-1 in bracket play. Florida-Onyx lost the first championship game 33-30 before claiming the title with a 27-13 victory over third-seeded PulseChain/Tyler Trucking/P&G/Blue MTN of Ohio. Top-seeded JFP/CKI of Michigan took third in the four-team division.

Men's 60+ Platinum: Fourth-seeded Action Auto Parts, a Major team from Rhode Island, finished 3-2 overall by going unbeaten in bracket play, including a 24-22 championship-game victory over second-seeded Suncoast/Squared Away Sports/M&M Glove Repair of Florida (photo below). Third-seeded HOTT Softball of Florida finished third in the four-team division.

Men's 60/65+ Gold: Top-seeded Bangers, a 60+ AAA team from Florida, capped a 5-1 tournament with a 19-4 title-game triumph over second-seeded Caffe Versuvios/Nasti Softball of Florida. Third-seeded Raging Mummies of Florida snagged third in the four-team division.

Men's 65/70+ Gold: The fourth-seeded Rosebay Rattlers, a 70+ AAA team from Florida, double-dipped third-seeded Slug-A-Bug of Florida 19-10 and 20-8 to win the four-team division. Top-seeded Steve Levin Ameriprise 65s of Florida took third.
