Mid-Atlantic Swing Series a Success

Westminster, Md., has become a hot-bed for senior softball teams in the Mid-Atlantic region this season.

As part of the Mid-Atlantic Swing Series, SSUSA National Director Tim McElroy has hosted a number of qualifiers at Carroll County Sports Complex in Westminster.

The series began with the Wayne Gilmore Memorial from April 9-11, which drew 53 teams.

Rain halted play on Sunday, cancelling all games on the final day of play, including the entire Men’s 40 AAA Division.

The Maryland Classic was split over two weekends, with the Men’s 60-75 age divisions playing April 23-25, and the Men’s 40 – 55 divisions playing May 1-2. Maryland Classic I hosted 26 teams, while Maryland Classic II hosted 44 teams.

The Quad-State Shootout was recently held May 21-23, with 43 teams in attendance.

The series continues with the Old Line State Showdown, scheduled for June 17-20 (Entry Deadline June 4); and then the Bert Bennett Memorial, scheduled for July 15-18 (Entry Deadline July 2).
