Lancaster Welcomes 38 Teams to the 2018 Southern California State Championships

LANCASTER, Calif. – The 2018 Southern California State Championships were held here at the Big 8 Softball Complex, June 22-24.

In the largest division of the tournament, the 11-team Men’s 40 Gold Division, Wicked Sports/PT Express (CA) came through the elimination side of the bracket to eventually double-dip Asylum Ballers (CA), winning the championship (20-11) and “if’ (27-17) game. The championship victory by Wicked Sports/PT Express capped off an impressive Sunday, as the team rattled off five straight wins to take home the title. Making their SSUSA debut, Shadow 55 (CA) finished in third place, while top seed Team Amaya (CA) finished fourth.

Stadium (CA) won the three-team Men’s 50/55 Platinum Division, posting a perfect 3-0 record in bracket play, including a 26-11 win over L.A.F 50 (CA) in the championship game. So Cal 55 (CA) finished in third.

Hard Tens/Oxnard Rookies (CA) won the four-team Men’s 55 Major Division, defeating So Cal Guys 55 (CA) in both the championship (15-7) and “if” (21-11) game. So Cal Guys previously defeated Hard Tens/Oxnard Rookies, 22-13, to advance to the championship game. OC 55 Braves (CA) finished in third place.

In another four-team division, the Men’s 50/55 AAA Division, top seed Kamikaze (CA) blitzed through seeding and bracket play with a perfect 6-0 record, including a 28-12 victory over Horn Softball (CA) in the championship game. Lights Out (CA) finished in third place.

Reloaded (CA) won the three-team Men’s 60 Major Division with a perfect 3-0 record in bracket play, including a 26-17 win over Sin City Softball (NV) in the championship game. Wongs (CA) finished in third.

The top seed in the four-team Men’s 60 Silver Division, Kamikaze Silver (CA) posted a perfect 3-0 record in bracket play, including a 20-7 win over Baker Boyz (CA) in the championship game. Lights Out 60 (CA) finished in third place.

In the Women’s 40 Major Division, TKP 40’s (CA) swept Broken Dollz (CA) by scores of 25-18 and 26-12, respectively, in a best two-out-of-three game series.

The seven-team Women’s 40/50 Gold Division saw Old School 50 (CA) go unbeaten in bracket play with a 4-0 record, including a 17-5 win over Vegas Vintage (NV) in the championship game. Vegas Vintage won four straight elimination games en route to their runner-up finish. As the highest finishing 40 AAA team, Vegas Vintage would also lock up a berth to the TOC. Pro Moves 40 (CA) finished in third place.
