SSUSA ID CARD question
I am Just asking before rosters are sent in for a team I sponsor.

The Phoenix Winter Worlds is the first 2013 event next month, correct?

If a SSUSA ID Card says it expired on 12-31-2012, is it good for this 2013 tournament being played in 2012????

I'm asking before one of my players gets in trouble once he gets there. Certainly just renewing it would be too easy?

There are a few guys in same boat, trying to push them to update their card every year gets old after a while.

When you register in Phoenix, SSUSA will know that you have applied for an updated card. As in other tourneys, if you've already applied, you will be allowed to partisipate without a card............

Ron, It's not like Dave Dowell, et. al., don't know you! As long as you "youngsters" (rising 65s) are nice to your "elders", all will be well! Look forward to playing GSF in Phoenix!

Good luck to you guys in Phoenix. Larry, who are you playing with in Phoenix? Watch out for those GSF guys. They are tricky.

Donnie, I'm still playing with Omen. I'm sure GSF will be a handful.

You guys really crushed us in the NA Championship game. Also, congrats on the 65 M+ championship. It was good to see all my "old" friends from the East even though the whooping we took was not fun!

Looking forward to what y'all do next year with James and Larry moving up with you.

So what is the answer on the card?

If a guys card expires 12-31-12, and the Phoenix Winter Worlds is technically a 2013 tournament, is the card GOOD or does it need renewed before Phoenix????

LARRY, GSF IS OFFICIALLY IN THE WIND. THE NAME IS DEAD AND BURIED. THE YOUNGSTERS WILL STAY TOGETHER AND HAVE MERGED WITH SOME MTC GUYS, THEY WILL BE VERY GOOD, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'LL BE CALLED BUT IT WON'T BE GSF. THE 6 OLD GUYS ARE MOVING UP TO WOODY'S 65 M+ TEAM CALLED FULL CIRCLE. SEE YA IN PHOENIX.

17 Black. Tournanment date is Nov 2012.Card expires Dec.2012. You have no issue or question. Logic applies here....

titan, I think his "logic" is that this is technically a 2013 tourney, as he said more than once. So his question is quite valid.

You might have the correct answer, but his question was more than worth asking.

Ron, Looking forward to it! We played the Full Circle guys in Las Vegas in the 60s. Woody and Billy Steele, among others. I'm sure they'll be glad to add you guys to the mix.

titanhd: thanks I understand the logic.

Card "looks good" based on dates is a no brainer, but is a 2012 expiring card good for a 2013 tournament being played in 2012????

Maybe I'm getting old, but it would be "too easy" and logical to make 2013 tournaments start after January 1st 2013, when it is 2013, not six weeks before in 2012???

I'm just throwing the question out there, and probably I'll just call SSUSA office since they aren't jumping on here, before a couple guys who are paying their own way to Phoenix (flights and hotels) get there and possibly find out they can't play.

I know, -------the next logical thing is if they can afford flights and hotels why can't they penny up $20 bucks to renew a card?????????????

I don't balance their checkbooks, I just give them uniforms and tournament entry fees. Any of you who have tried to manage 12-17 grown adults on a ball team and give them instruction know what I am talking about-------------sheeessshhhhh!!!

They'll throw a grand $$$$ into slot machines in Vegas and complain about a $20 renewal fee.

I'm also just guessing other teams have some players who also didn't plan on renewing yet, if they even need too. Hence the question.

G19 thanks for watching my back.

Larry, only 4 of the guys you saw in LV are moving up (incl Billy and I). Full Circle 65 will have several AZ guys (as Ron mentioned) and many other long term senior players that you will know.
We're looking forward to getting started...

17Black, This is a non issue, and I have had this happen on previous teams on several occasions in the past. Whenever it has been an issue, like a January tournament with an expired December card, the player just had to pay at the time of signing in or call into the SSUSA office with a credit card before the tournament. Same thing regarding a team registration not paid. Just bring the completed form to the tournament with payment, and all will be fine.

With an election coming up in 2 weeks does anyone else find it odd that we have to show an SSUSA picture ID card to play in an SSUSA tournament (or SPA) but some areas you don't need to show any ID to vote? Perhaps it's just me.........

Stick8-I had that discussion with a good friend-Democrat-and after debating it, he finally admitted he was against ID's only because he thought too many Democratic voters would not go get the ID's-even when offered for free. He didn't even know a lot of states offer ID's for free with proof of citizenship. You should have seen the look on his face when I told him that and he looked it up and found it was true. I do carry my SPA ID, SSUSA ID, Drivers License, proof of insurance, credit card-that I need my drivers license to use, Social Security card-yes the one that says NOT to be used as ID, plus a replacement I got one time that does NOT say not to be used as ID plus a few other ID's. Why not to do arguably the most important thing we do-VOTE?

How about this...you can't get on a plane without a valid ID, but you can vote to elect officals and or raise taxes....Webbie it is my understanding New Mexico licenses will be not be valid to board a plane because they cannot be validated. Better get a passport of it is going to be a long car ride to play next year.

I suppose the difference is I can do a lot more damage on a plane than I can with my one vote, but point well taken.

What's up C? Just for the record I'm not a member of any political party--all they want is your money!! I choose to stay out of that insanity. You are correct, this is a softball site but as I'm sure you know sometimes discussions do branch off into other subjects. I don't necessarily view that as a bad thing. Being that I'm forever on the learning curve I've learned some things on here that I've found useful.
Did you play Huntsman games?

No one in their right mind would not accept an ID which had an expiry date after the date of the
tournament. I can have a tournament and call it the 2025 Worlds, but it still takes place on the date it takes place. The name is immaterial.

The facts are that there is no voter fraud of any
significance. The new voter id laws are consistent with historical attempts to suppress voting. Any other rationale is simple b. s. In the old days there were poll taxes with the intent to stop the poor from voting. There were also "citizenship tests" which were unfairly used to suppress black voters. The rash of new voter id laws were a well planned republican idea to try to affect the outcome of the election. Sometimes I vote R and sometimes I vote D, but as an American I am against any attempt to suppress voter turnout. It is simply not American.

Webbie with all the social media we have access to there is nearly an unlimited amount of information we can learn these days, that is if one is interested to take the time to do it. Not to direct blame at your friend but it sounds like he simply wasn't up to speed on that particular issue.
How'd you do in Vegas?

Neck I talked with Stewie on Tuesday. He's healing up and doing ok. He still has a ways to go before he's 100% and barring anything unforseen happening he should be ready to go come next season.

Hi Stick8-we came in second in 60 M+ to Hollis, how about you??

I understand the point you are making, but the more I talk to people the more I realize that most people just listen to the side they want to listen to and aren't even aware of what the other side is talking about. It just amazes me that people are so polarized, and i got an A on an economics paper-(extra credit) that I called 'The polarization of the parties protects the two party system'. And I believe both sides know it and perpetuate it. And the media on both sides also perpetuates it, because their very high paying jobs depend on it. If more people would realize this, maybe we could even get congress working for us again.

oooops-and softball4b, I do have a passport because I heard that also about the ID's being issuede to illegals-we have a stupid state and in this case it is the democrats that will not change it in our legislature when 70% of the people want them banned. Mike, do I need one to get to Phoenix next month???

Webbie we took 4th. Disappointing because we won every previous tourney we played this year but that's the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully we'll get back on track in Phoenix.
I think you make some valid points about polarization. That's the result of a the divided government we have.
