Discussion: Made in USA Ultra II

Has anyone had the opportunity to hit with one of the new Miken Ultra II 'Made in USA' bats, perhaps a demo? If so, please provide your feedback.
the new ultra2 thats pewter gray is awesome...whole team used this bat last week in austin tourney!!!! awesome!!!!
The new one I'm referring to is light gray, has a white tacky grip, red knob, and says Made in USA on the neck. Is this the same one you are referring to or are you referrring to the darker gray one that has been available for the last year?
The model number is SPU2P. Pre-orders are being taken now by authorized dealers for delivery sometime in late September or early October.
this bat is available now. no pre-order. As with most senior bats no warranty offered.
According to the Miken website, the MSU2 is also " Made In USA". Looks like just a marketing ploy.
We had some guys use it recently ... One guy in particular now wants to sleep with the bat!

Doker ... Congrats on learning how to type with the caps lock off! ... LOL
Is there any new word on new Ultra 2 USA.
Got this bat from the family as a Birthday present!!! Had BP last weekend and seems to be near ready after about 50 swings, going out again Sunday should be ready for Phoenix!!! Ball jumps off just like all U2s, has a non-slick finish,
seems to spin ball better, but it was the first rond of BP so take that with a grain of salt til others notice as well I'd say.
Got my 27-ouncer and was hot right out of the wrapper. Might break it out in Phoenix. Hopefully, it'll last at one full season for this 5'10, 190 pounder.
This bat is the REAL DEAL!!! I have about 200 swings on mine, starting breaking in after 50 or so swings...I'm not a Miken fan, but i must says I really like the way this ONE FEELS & swings, the ball just jumps..reminds me of the yellow rebok when i 1st swung that one..Its already good to go for PHX & i'm sure you'll see ALOT OF GUYS SWING IT..
batbreaker where were you for BP,ya gonna let a little rain stop ya....LOL.....terry(tall guy who plays outfield for your league team) and i went over to kilgore(driller park) and hit.took the rain about 2 hrs to get there.see ya tuesday....
mad dog when do you leave for Phoenix? maybe we can hit early Tuesday before games?
i leave weds morning,i can be there early this tues if ya want....we play the 820 game.5 pm would be ok for me to be there.
That sounds good I'll meet you there.

the word out west is this bat performs great but it is less durable than this years production models.
Can anyone add to this?

Thanks:

James
hit with batbreaker today,he used his usa ultra and combat centenarian.his combat sounded better to me,but he was hitting pretty good with both.oh i snuck in the 52 balls on him and he was still hitting them out,he was getting around 320 with them,he also in the second round used his ASA miken dst and hit as many out with that.
The 2012 Ultra II is ready for Phoenix, took about 100 cuts total to have really good pop. Hitting those 52 cor balls it's hard to tell how far a 44 cor ball will
go but seems like it has as much pop as this years model.
But Mad Dog is right about the ball/bat combo in one sense, seemed to jump off a ASA bat just as well as a senior bat, so we can buy bats with warranties and not
have to buy 3 or 4 bats a year!!! I'm sure the bat companies will be glad to hear that!!!
I have alswys found the UII to be lively bat but it just didn't hold up so I went to the combat.

Can anyone give me an estimate on the number of swings on ths new model Ultra before it breaks?
I got a 26 last week and put about 20 swings on it. It seemed pretty hot right out of the wrapper. To early to make a call on durability.
batbreaker: Can you give us a update on the UII.
Made in China?

Assembled in USA?
batbreaker is in phoenix playing this weekend, most likely will be monday or later before he can update....
Thanks MAD DOG
Bought one from Miken and whole team has taken BP with it so well over 300 cuts on it in less than 3 weeks and all is fine. Some of the guys love it and seems to have good pop to it. Normally hit 28 oz Ultra II which I love, is over 3 years maybe 4 years old and great bat don't count swings but has to have 500 + easily. Also have a red 27 oz don't like as well as the 28 black Ultra but it too has 400+ swings and all is well.

Miken bat are made right up in Caledonia, MN been to the factory and watched them make the bats.

I think like any and all bats some last longer than others I have had Ultra's break in a few hundred swings and own some with well over 400+ cuts but never count so don't know for sure.

Just order my first Senior bat an it the new 28oz Miken Ultra II USA. Hope to get some hits on it next week at out senior game.
Have a black Ultra 2 27 oz.
Have had it over 4 years .
Call it my Tank .
Well over 2000 hits on it .
4-5 guys use it every game .
At least 6 tourneys a year .
Never ever used in batting practice .

I saw the USA model in Utah .
Looks Great .
Teams were using it in the rain .
One guy on our team got one .
2-3 guys used it every game .
They used it in batting practice
with the balls real wet .
They used it in the rain and sleet.
Really performed well .

I got one before we left
Haven't used it yet .
It is my backup for when
the Tank goes down .

Looks like a great bat to me .
spoonplugger keep us updated on how the bat is doing.

I spoke to a few guys who had them in Arizona and they were not all that impressed. I hope they turn out to be a good bat and a little stronger than last years model. I like the black U2 so this would be a good switch if it is the real deal.

Thanks:

James
I bought a 28oz about 3 weeks ago at a Florida Half Century tournament in Auburndale Florida. I stated swinging it for the two games on Sunday with no break in. Pop was good, right out of the wrapper. I've only swung it once since then at a BP. I've never hit one out at this 300' field, the ball just doesn't carry there, and I am not a crusher either. I hit the base of the fence a few times with the USA U II.

To me, the pop seems comparable to the regular U II, time will tell on the durability.
I took my new USA UII (aka Hit Man) in the wrapper to the field today. Set my tee up first ball with the wrapper still on it all I can say is IT'S ON. I hit about 10 ball an the balls were jumping off. I will be ready next year with my 3 Miken in my 3N2 roller bag and the good Lord. (Miken Recoil / Utrip FX700 / USA UII
