Discussion: BLD. HOW MUCH???

So how much is it to enter BLD this year???
$10
BLD charges a park entry of $10 per day. It applies to players and spectators age 13 and older. is $10 per day (SSUSA gets none of that).

BLD is a cashless facility so bring a credit card or debit card.

You are allowed to bring in water but not Gatorade or outside food.
Im glad that bld is not available in session 4
Water and Snickers Bar $7.84 and a tip request.

Disgraceful
Nothing more than a city rip off. If it was a really nice brand new complex it might be worth it, but this one, no way.
LV BLD is awesome this year. Brand new artificial turf on the entire fields. Super fast. Fresh paint in the home run zones.
$10/day for perfect fields, air conditioning, and cold beer. Lots of gear vendors. Water jug in each dugout, and water misters. You can bring in your own water/ice.
We played there this year and loved it. Played there a few years ago -it was difficult then avoiding the patchwork turf fields and small batters boxes but very nice now. Will pay $10 anytime to play there.
Having just played this week at BLD I would agree with LC7. Fields were awesome. I agree $10 is a little much, especially for the guys bringing spouses/significant others, however, the playing experience is great and would love to see SSUSA poll all the players who played there this year and see what the consensus opinion is.

We played there all 4 days so the guys who brought their wives (and that was most of our team) paid an extra $80 for the tournament. Times that by 10 guys/couples and we paid the tournament entry fee twice!
Evidently they fixed the turf as it was terrible the last time I played there. Good to hear that it has been upgraded to a nice complex now.
parman ... It's an "all turf" environment now, from backstop to outfield fencing ... All of the plywood structural replica-look sheeting is new and repainted ... No more uneven grass, mud holes, sprinkler failures, broken pipes leaking ... All that "fun stuff" they had until recently ... They've also re-done the restaurants for a cleaner and more modern look, removed the center "bars" and replaced them with tables and more seating ... It's a significant upgrade, for the first time in the 15± years they've been open ...
Dave
That is great to hear. If our team gets assigned there next year it will obviously be a nice place to play.
Can’t speak for my team but I hope 60AAA gets to play here in 2027.
I hope so too - what I don't get is why some parks like Cheyenne Sports Complex there is no concessions, Food truck, or even water offered this is the World Tournament - lots of loss revenue and would be nice to know before you go there.
B.L.D. is the only facility that owns and operates its concessions ... Clark County, City of Henderson and the City of North Las Vegas all allow outside vendors, food trucks, etc. to appear, and none of them share revenues with us ... Despite our best efforts, they have widely varying levels of commitment to the cause ... Some don't feel like they may be making enough money, so they disappear in search of a "better deal" ... This is a food-truck specialty, and they have the mobility to make that happen ... We do our very best to arrange for concessions everywhere, but making them hold up their end of the bargain sometimes leaves a bit to be desired ... It's always best to come prepared, or at least to check out the nearby options as you go to the parks ...

Dave - wasn't inferring lost revenue for you, just don't understand that these park districts get this same large tournament every year and year after year the majority do nothing. We have concessions open on league nights during the week - doesn't seem that hard.
BH44 ... No worries! ... I didn't think you were making any inference of that nature ... It's just a strange economic realm they play in and apparently not that many want to get involved with! ... I don't understand it, I guess! ...
BH44 and DD,

A few years back we played at Hollywood Park and had no clue what we were walking into. It was 103 degrees out on Saturday and we had to win out to keep make it to Sunday. We played I think 6 games 2 of which went to extra innings before losing the last game which would have gotten us to Sunday by like 3 runs. We were absolutely gassed and part of it was because there was no concessions. We got the park at like 8 AM and left at almost 10 PM. Thankfully our ladies were there and made multiple trips for Ice, McDonalds, Pizza and drinks. By 10AM both gas stations nearby were completely sold out of Ice, Water and Sports Drinks so they were traveling even further to get us stuff.
What we were told by the site directors is the concessions are manned by mostly high schoolers and they were all back in school by then so concessions weren't an option and hadn't been open the previous days either. At that point it would have been good for someone from SSUSA to have reached out to the coaches from each team or even posted on the website that there would be no concessions available to us on Saturday since we were rotating parks at that point and hadn't played there the day before to know this. I think that is what BH44 was trying to say Dave is a little heads up from SSUSA would have helped them and many others as I believe they had that happen at 2 different parks this year. Not all teams travel with great fans like my team does where we have multiple ladies there to support us and are able to run to the store between/during games to keep us hydrated and fed.

As you said it's a good idea to scout out places to get those necessities if need be but when hundreds of players are descending on parks for days on end their supplies run out as we experienced then you don't have time to go get something if you end up playing game after game like we did.

All I think we're asking is if the site directors know that nobody showed up on Thursday or Friday there's a damn good chance nobody is showing up to to work the concessions on Saturday either so maybe give the coaches a heads up when this happens. Don't want to have to go out and buys cases and cases of water/drinks and food for games on Saturday if you're not going to have to have them when we the vast majority of us fly out on Sunday or Monday and can't take it with us. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
We generally find out about the same time you do ... Around 8:30 AM after the fourth or fifth person has asked, "Are we going to have concessions today...?" ... We seldom, if ever, get the "no show courtesy call" ...
That is so wrong, that shouldn't be how businesses operate. You eluded in your other post that some of those "no shows" are from food trucks. Maybe if when that happens again, we could be told which food truck was supposed to be there and the players it affected could leave some Yelp reviews. Sometimes the only way to get companies to treat customers better is to affect their incomes.
As hard as Fran and Nic work to set up these concessionaires, it just doesn't seem fair when they no-show ... But I'm also not sure that Yelp-War is the solution, either ... They're a local and close-knit group and we're the outsiders ... It's frustrating for sure! ...
When I first played at a BLD complex many, many years ago it was pretty cool to play on scaled down versions of major league stadiums. The novelty of this left me a long time ago as the fields are a launching pad for HR’s and the turf can be damn hot during the summer months.

BLD has never ever been known for their concessions, definitely better with the new ownership. My take on the concessions…I went over last week to watch 60 Major finals and got a burger and a beer, $25.30. Damn!
