Discussion: West Covina

WTH happened to the 50's. You move the days for the older divisions and bumped the rest of the teams?
Your comment seems a bit unclear ... Here's the current tournament plan:
• There was NO CHANGE for the 40's • Still Saturday only
• There was NO CHANGE for the 50's • Still Sat./Sun.
• There was NO CHANGE for the 65+ and more senior • Still Fri./Sun.
• There was NO CHANGE for 55-Major+ or 55-Major • Still Sat./Sun.
_______

Nominal changes were made to:
• The 55-AAA and 60+ Men will begin later on Friday and end Sunday
• The 60/65-Platinum and 60-AA brackets will end on Saturday
• The 55-AAA and 60-AAA brackets will end on Sunday (no change)
Did you not get all of the fields assigned or was there really only 4 teams in the 40's and 6 teams in the 50's wanting to sign up? Not sure if anyone would want to pay to play in a 4-team tournament. The tournament is heavily favored to the older divisions is what I am seeing...
We're using all six fields for the three days available ... Also scheduling 129 games into the total of 132 maximum game slots (there is ONE open time on ONE field on each day) ...

It's a pretty typical teams count for the event this year ... Past 4 year's average is 46 teams (2023=53 / 2024=40 / 2025=44 / 2026=48)

Age group balance this time is a reasonable spread, too ...
10 • 40's & 50's
11 • 55's
9 • 60's
10 • 65's & 70's
8 • 75's & 80's
The SSUSA website clearly listed this event as a two-day tournament at the time our team committed and paid. We structured our roster availability, travel, and work schedules around that published format. The late change to a three-day event, with games now scheduled on Friday, materially alters the conditions under which we entered the tournament.
Our players are 55+ and many are still employed full-time. With short notice, it is not feasible for them to take Friday off work. As a result, we will be unable to field a team on Friday
Was the original plan to have the older divisions play on Tues, Wed. and Thurs.? If so by moving them to the weekend bumps the 40's and 50's out, hence having less teams. That is my point.
tribe24 ... This year's version of the Top Gun Winter Classic was never contemplated for play on Tuesday thru Friday for any age group ... It was always three days, Friday through Sunday, for everyone ... And there are MORE teams this year than either of the last TWO years ... Someone may be giving you faulty data points ...
We are in the same boat as timmy13 for the 60 AAA group, hopefully you can find a way to keep it a Saturday/Sunday schedule
domer ... What's your team's name? (you post here anonymously, so I can't "look you guys up" to get started on what we might be able to do to help) ... Tiffany from our office and timmy13 worked out a good solution for his team by setting their games for 5:00 and 6:30 PM, so they're happy campers and good to go! ...

We ARE going to play Friday for the 60-Men and 55-AAA divisions ... There's a total of 129 games required for this event, with just 132 total game slots available at "normal" times of day ... The 19 games combined in the 60's and 55-AAA for Friday afternoon and evening could maybe be rolled over to the weekend, but only by forcing Saturday night games at 8:00 (1), 9:30 (6) and 11:00 PM (6), plus pushing Sunday's schedule to 5:00 PM "If" games ... This would presume, of course, that the park would permit us to play past midnight on Saturday ...

Please let me know so I can get a jump on getting you guys into workable late(r) game slots rather than just taking what the randomization of game times software yields ... Thanks!
When will times and fields be posted for 75+ teams?
Richard ... Your team will be playing at 8:00 and 9:30 AM on Friday morning in your 75-AAA seeding games ... The four lowest seeded teams will also play the first-round games #1 and #2 of the bracket at 12:30 PM, then your division is done for the day ... Six more bracket games on Saturday and then the 3rd place, championship and potential "If" game on Sunday morning ... Good luck!
We’re playing 55 AAA Team SMS. We’re out of state, and have several players who are working Friday and driving in that evening. We will not have enough players to play Friday as well
When will the 65 schedule be posted and to confirm, it'll still be Fri-Sun?
Micara ... Nothing has changed with the 65+ and more senior age groups: Friday thru Sunday for most ... A couple of smaller groups (70-Major and 70-AA) will finish Saturday ...
To the 60-Men and 55-AAA Divisions: All of the managers were called by either Director Jerry Smith and/or Tiffany from the SSUSA office, and most were successfully contacted ... We have accumulated your comments and are re-drafting the Friday afternoon / evening schedule to get your games as late as is feasible ... There WILL BE Friday play in these groups ... Good luck!

So, for the teams that were not contacted, too bad, or good luck trying to fill a team another words. However, the tournament fees were paid I assume, but the team will not have all of their players there on Friday for seeding. IMO, the team isn't getting what they paid for. Like the team from Henderson, missing SEVERAL players, not 1 or 2.

You changed the format of the tournament and didn't care to think how it would affect the teams already in. Maybe just an advantage for the 9 TOP GUN teams that are in.
tribe24 ... The very first post (yours) in this thread is asking about the 50's ... There were no changes for the 50's (still a two-day, weekend-only structure) ... The revisions being discussed and handled today were for 55-AAA and 60-Men only ...

Maybe you could hold off on any more wildly speculative false assumptions until we post the game schedules, then have at it to your heart's content! ...
I personally wasn't contacted ????

Ssusa reached out to us, told us the situation and this is what’s going to happen. Hey, when life gives you lemons…. We Want to play ball. we’ll see you next Friday.

I was not contacted until I saw the posting on the tournament page about 55's having to play Friday, and then saw this thread. Tiffany called me after I messaged the office.
