Was Curious to why more teams weren’t bumped from Worlds? A lot of 30 or more team divisions and only top 3 were bumped. You would think top 5 would be bumped with more than 30 teams in a division or at worse top 4.
TJSenior, did you read page 66 of the rulebook? I would start there with your question.
I just read it and it says
all fourth-place teams bumped in divisions of 31 or more.
40 Majors 67 teams
Top 5 bumped
50 Majors 33 teams ???
Top 3 bumped
50 AAA 58 teams
Top 4 bumped
55 Majors 35 teams ???
Top 3 bumped
55 AAA 42 teams
Top 5 bumped
60 Majors 34 teams ???
Top 3 bumped
60 AAA 38 teams
Top 4 bumped
You would still think more would be bumped
That would be a question for the office. Some things don’t happen until all of the results are in after the tournament is over, and results can be further analyzed in an office setting. I just thought that you would want to see what the rulebook says. Thank you for your analysis.
Page 66 states in a division of 11 or more both champion's and finalist get moved why didn't that happen in 75 major division?
TJSenior - I would say in the past 10 yrs I have been playing, they generally go by 10% so if you look at the ones where you have question marks, my "assumption" is they "rounded down" and took only top 3. I feel pretty good about that statement where you show 60AAA with 38 and they took 4 so they rounded up! :-)
Also, sometimes they won't make the changes immediately for all winners IF a team has told Dave/Home Office their intentions of attending TOC in Jan because those teams can compete at the level they qualified and then will be moved up after TOC is completed. This has just been my observations in the past 10 years, not perfect but pretty consistent.
