Discussion: Giving runs to another team

Our team had a situation this weekend where we are 65 Major and we were playing a
70 AAA team, and we had to give them 7 runs (Not 5). I talked to quite a few
people (Umpires, players, etc.) and nobody has ever heard of this. Can somebody let me know if this is a thing?
A 65 Major team is 1) younger and 2) more skilled than a 70 AAA team, so the double equalizer is legitimate.

If you look at a pre-printed game card you'll see that 7 runs are listed as a potential equalizer option.
@madman50 - did you win?
Yes we did but definitely wasn’t easy especially with a 70 team that has good hitters. Those extra runs are rough.
That’s exactly what the equalizer is supposed to do.
Why would a 65M team complain about having to give 7 runs to a 70AAA? Seems like it should be 10 runs. Isnt it a 2 class difference? Also a pretty big difference between 65 and 70 as far as skill and speed.
Don't think he is complaining Jim, just wasn't sure about the "double" equalizer. And honestly, def a play on words since the equalizer is 5 runs (we already play with 11) so "double" you would think is 10 but it's 7 so really not double based on the def of the word (I know DD would agree on the word play, not the actual rule! lol)

We played a 55M team in an earlier tourney (we are 65M) and were given the 7 runs so yes, def a difference as you age up.
Jim, As Tim mentioned above, it was a 2 class difference. It was a very small 65-70-75 bracket. They were the only 65 team who played 2 seeding games against 2 of the 6 70 teams. 5 70 AAA and 1 70 Major. So they were 1 age group younger and M, 1 group above AAA. Therefore 2 class difference. The 2 seeding games with the 7 runs were meaningless to the 65 team as it had no affect on their bracket set up, where they were going to play 2 out of 3 vs the 70M team. It did play into the bracket setup for the 70AAA teams. by the way the 65 team won both seeding games 18-17 and 15-10. Mck71, you are probably right in that for future reference, they will know how many runs they give should the same circumstance apply.
