How should Senior Softball Treat Teams?
We paid $665 To Be In the Sacramento tournament, it’s Sunday morning 8:00 am
Sun is directly over the pitchers head.
Both teams are at the director table complaining about the sun, why. there is an open field, field 3, were scheduled for field 2.
Both Directors are very very unhelpful.
No we can’t change fields, it’s not in our interest to change fields to help batting averages.
She said I’m on the phone with my boss the owner and he says no.
For 20 minutes we argued. We were getting no where.
Than a local umpire shows up, our umpire for our field, he says we don’t allow these fields to be used in the morning, yes senior softball has rented the whole park, it would be good to move to field 3
Problem solved
Not by the unwilling directors
A local umpire.
A field was Open………
Very poor directors
Very poor concern for the total amount of time and money and effort for us to simply want to move over to an unused field to avoid looking at the sun, to be able to see to hit.
The man director is a player on a 65 team, no concern no help,
His customer service Rating I would Give..1
Yes a lot of games it can not be avoided
But there was an open field………..
Two options:
Suck it up buttercup......
or
Delay game untill you can see.....
We also paid to be in the tourney, I think everyone did. We had a couple different issues and dealt with both tourney directors and they were very helpful and professional. Sunday morning we had an 8am game where the pitcher could not see the ball after releasing due to position of sun. The tourney directors and umpire crew worked with both teams to come up with a suitable outcome. It was decided to delay start of game, I think roughly 30-40 minutes. TD and umpire crew went out to mound every 15 minutes or so until it was determined that conditions were safe. I think everyone was happy with how it was handled. I am not going to give a customer service rating other than to say I thought he (and she) did a very good job and handled it the right way.
If they really care about players safety then games should never be played with the sun directly in the pitchers eyes
"EXACTLY"
The amazing thing about the decision it took 2 people to figure it out
and make a decision to delay the game.
